It's More Than What He Does For You

We continue our examination of the aftermath of Jesus feeding the multitude with five loaves of bread and two fish. In this examination according to the Gospel of John, we look at the challenges those in the text and believers face today when they decide to follow Jesus. In this #SermonReCast episode, we examine what is required of us to follow Jesus so that we can stay the course.

Make Room for God

People tend to use good works as a replacement for salvation through Jesus Christ. This sermon addresses Solomon's efforts to construct a temple as a continuation of his father David's legacy. He waited to hear from God until he had finished the temple. We explore the liberating encounter of Jesus Christ in our lives and how this encounter equips us to perform good works.

Remember the Last Time

We often immediately forget what God has done for us after we have been through a rough storm in life. In this #SermonReCast episode, we review the narrative of the disciples in Mark 6. They had witnessed and experienced the miracle of feeding the multitude and have become fearful because they were now in a storm. We explore Mark's rationale that these disciples become fearful because they did not understand what happened to them last time and if they had only remembered it would have calmed their fears.

Permission Granted

There are times when we are confronted by harsh winds and violent waves while we are desiring to come to Jesus. We often look at the account of the disciples in the storm in Matthew 14 and become critical of Peter for sinking. What we fail to realize is that Peter is the only one of Jesus' disciples who were willing to get out of the boat. Great rewards come with great risks and the question presented for us is what are we willing to risk in order to get to Jesus?

Giving God the Hard Stuff

What do you expect to happen to you after God gives you an impossible task?

In this final sermon in our series on the women in the genealogy of Jesus, we look at Mary -   the mother of Jesus - and the seemingly impossible task she is given. She is told that being a virgin, she will conceive a child of the Holy Ghost. I'm not sure how we would accept it if someone said the Holy Ghost impregnated them, however, this is the birth narrative of Jesus. She wonders how can these things be - and I believe many of us approach our divinely orchestrated tasks raising this same question. We invite you to learn just as Mary did, that we have to give God the hard stuff.

Pressing Reset

What happens when you have experienced a tragedy that you were not prepared for?

In this fourth sermon in this series on the women in the genealogy of Jesus, we look at Bathsheeba. History has mischaracterized what happened to her, suggesting that she was a willing participant in her affair with David. However, she is able to press reset in her life after being raped, becoming a widow, and the death of a child through the birth of Solomon. We invite you to listen to this sermon and be encouraged.

Taking the Bitter With The Sweet

Are you willing to leave everything you know in life behind in order to follow Jesus?

In this third installment of our series on the women in the genealogy of Jesus, we discuss Ruth. Ruth is one who has often been misunderstood in our reading and understanding of Scripture. But she is willing to leave her homeland of Moab and accompany Naomi back home after their husbands die. Naomi has become bitter because she no longer has any children and her husband is dead. Yet the end of the story offers Naomi another chance when Ruth gives birth to Obed. We invite you to follow us in this journey of leaving everything behind in order to get closer to Jesus.

Pulling Back the Covers

We often make presumptions about people and whether or not God has the ability to save them. In this second sermon in our series on the women in the genealogy of Jesus, we focus on Rahab. Rahab is known as a prostitute living on the walls of the great city of Jericho. Yet, we discover in Joshua's account of the conquering of this city that she is more spiritually in tune with what God is doing for His people than the spies she has hidden. We witness not only her salvation but her restoration as she gives birth to her son Salmon.

Breaking Out of What Almost Broke You

Have you ever felt like giving up because others have given up on you? If so, we want you to hear this sermon from our series dealing with the five women in the genealogy of Jesus.

This is the first sermon in this series, Tamar, the daughter-in-law of Judah. She was abandoned and forced to live as a desolate woman but she was able to continue the line of Judah because of her persistence. We invite you to see how God is at work even when it feels as though you have been abandoned.

Minding Your Manners

People are so rude these days. I think that they have forgotten the manners that they learned growing up - saying things like please and thank you. Not only are people rude to us, we are rude to God. We continue to ask God for things and have not conditioned ourselves to say thank you for what the Lord has already done. We invite you to tune into this #SermonReCast episode coming from 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.
