In this episode, John and Krys are joined by author Steven Lawther to discuss his latest book, "We Led in Munich: the Unlikely Adventures of Raith Rovers in Europe".
The book is effectively a follow up to Steven's "Unthinkable: Raith Rovers Improbably Journey from the Bottom of Scottish Football" in which Raith Rovers went on to win the League Cup in November 1994 and thus qualify for Europe.
Starting off discussing the book itself, and the upcoming book launch event at Waterstones Kirkcaldy branch, chat inevitably turns to a good old fashioned throwback. The guys reflect on the League Cup run, culminating in penalty shootout success in the final at Ibrox.
Back in the good old days, a League Cup win came with a European spot so Raith drew the short straw - twice - with some awkward trips north before winning the golden ticket to Germany. Steven takes us through his own experiences of that European run, and Krys even reflects on his own oddly similar Munich experiences eight years later.
The book itself is out on Monday, so be sure to check it out as well as Steven's other books which also include "Arrival: How Scotland's Women Took Their Place on the World Stage and Inspired a Generation", a look at SWNT's 2019 World Cup finals experience.
