Johnstone Narrator: George Guidall Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 9 hours 24 minutes Release date: January 21, 2025 Genres: Historical Publisher's Summary: The Greatest Historical Western Writers of the 21st Century, William W. Johnstone and J.A. Johnstone, bring to life the harrowing journeys of the fearless pioneers who braved the Oregon Trail—and lived to tell the tale … Independence, Missouri, 1865. Seasoned wagon master Virgil Grissom prepares to lead a new group of families westward across the Oregon Trail. Among them are struggling farmer Matt Moran, his wife Katie, and their three small children. In spite of the long, treacherous journey ahead, Grissom is confident that this solid, hard-working farmer and his family are tough enough to endure the harsh elements, the rugged terrain, and the occasional run-in with hostile tribes. But he’s not so sure about the farmer’s younger brother, Clay, who plans to catch up with them along the trail. Alone. Which has Grissom worried … On the Oregon Trail, a lone man is a dead man. Clay Moran fought hard in the Civil War, serving as lieutenant in the US Calvary. Now that Robert E. Lee has surrendered, Clay is free to head west with his brother’s family. Problem is, the wagon train has left Independence already—and Clay has to go it alone. Luckily, the army let him keep his horse. But when a couple of bushwhackers steal that horse and all his money, he’s left high and dry. If Clay hopes to catch up with the wagon train, he’ll have to rely on his wits. His guts. And every skill he learned in the war. Along the way, he’ll have to do things a man should never have to do—just to survive …  JOHNSTONE COUNTRY. GO WEST, LIVE FREE, OR DIE TRYING.

The Tensaw River: Alabama's Hidden Heritage Corridor by Mike Bunn
Please visit https://thebookvoice.com/podcasts/1/audiobook/818688 to listen full audiobooks. Title: The Tensaw River: Alabama's Hidden Heritage Corridor Author: Mike Bunn Narrator: Jim Seybert Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 2 hours 37 minutes Release date: November 12, 2024 Genres: World Publisher's Summary: The Tensaw River introduces one of the American South's richest and most fertile natural features. Author Mike Bunn is director of Historic Blakeley State Park, which is nestled in a prominent bend of the majestic Tensaw River. Forming the eastern boundary of the expansive Mobile-Tensaw Delta, the Tensaw has had little industrial development. Left largely undisturbed, the river flows free and bountiful into the grand estuary of Mobile Bay in ways that would be recognizable to Native Americans centuries ago and to pioneers who arrived before Alabama became a state. Bunn's unforgettable stories in The Tensaw River trace the construction and occupation of the Bottle Creek site, an important mound complex built by Southeastern Native Americans a millennia ago. Nearby Blakeley is an antebellum ghost town whose lost memories tease the imagination. During the Civil War, the boom of artillery fire in the battle that sealed the fate of the city of Mobile echoed along the bends in the Tensaw. Located near popular travel destinations, the Tensaw's 'Forgotten Cultural Heritage Corridor' is a gateway to the enchanting beauty of—and humankind's relationship to—the landscape of the American South.

Liquid Light: Ayahuasca Spirituality and the Santo Daime Tradition by G. William Barnard
Please visit https://thebookvoice.com/podcasts/1/audiobook/795913 to listen full audiobooks. Title: Liquid Light: Ayahuasca Spirituality and the Santo Daime Tradition Author: G. William Barnard Narrator: Andrew Joseph Perez Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 14 hours 42 minutes Release date: October 29, 2024 Genres: Social Science Publisher's Summary: The Santo Daime is a syncretic religion that arose in the Amazon region of Brazil in the middle of the twentieth century and now has churches throughout the world. Its spiritual practice is based around the sacramental use of ayahuasca, a psychedelic brew consumed only within regular ceremonies. In Liquid Light, G. William Barnard—an initiate of the religion and a scholar of religious studies—considers the religious practice and transformative inner experiences of the Santo Daime community. Immersing listeners in his own journeys into nonordinary states of consciousness, Barnard provides a vivid as well as introspective depiction of the dramatic ritual and visionary worlds that a practitioner of this tradition encounters. He combines striking first-person accounts of the ritual life of the Santo Daime with accessible examinations of the psychological and philosophical significance of mystical states and mediumship. Bridging insider and outsider perspectives on religious experience, Barnard demonstrates how the Santo Daime offers its practitioners a transformative and profoundly illuminating spiritual path. Liquid Light also reflects on the broader implications of psychedelics, arguing that entheogenic religions can shed light on a wide range of key philosophical questions concerning consciousness, selfhood, and reality.

Mean Streak: A moral vacuum, a dodgy debt generator and a multi-billion-dollar government shake down - the powerful story of robodebt from the award winning author of One Hundred Years of Dirt by Rick Morton
Please visit https://thebookvoice.com/podcasts/1/audiobook/770423 to listen full audiobooks. Title: Mean Streak: A moral vacuum, a dodgy debt generator and a multi-billion-dollar government shake down - the powerful story of robodebt from the award winning author of One Hundred Years of Dirt Author: Rick Morton Narrator: Tamblyn Lord, Rick Morton Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 15 hours 32 minutes Release date: October 16, 2024 Genres: Current Affairs, Law, & Politics Publisher's Summary: From award-winning journalist and writer Rick Morton comes Mean Streak, a gripping and horrifying account of how, over the course of four and a half years, Australia's government turned on its most vulnerable citizens. Robodebt was a new debt-creation system that was used to illegally pursue close to half a million Australian welfare recipients for fake debts generated by the thousands. It was described by the Royal Commission's report as a 'massive failure of public administration' caused by 'venality, incompetence and cowardice'. Essentially, Australians were gaslit by their own government, which doggedly and knowingly concocted a program that was both mathematically wrong and illegal, just to shake down innocent people for money, then lied about it for four and a half years. Robodebt is a historic and appalling political tragedy, a scheme created deliberately and sustained by institutional cowardice, clearly displaying the systematic contempt that a government had for its own citizens. Powerfully moving, deeply compelling and utterly enraging, Mean Streak reveals disturbing truths about the country we have become and the government that was. In the mode of a corporate thriller, this is a scouring cautionary tale of morality in public life gone badly awry - a story that is bigger than robodebt, and far from over. Praise for Rick Morton: 'A crack storyteller ... his words and stories are infused with genuine compassion' Christos Tsiolkas 'Morton is an intelligent, funny, endearing writer' Australian Book Review 'Morton is fresh ... He's brilliant' The Monthly 'Wonderfully readable ... Morton is a national treasure' Books+Publishing

Mary moved to Shropham, Norfolk and became involved with the workhouse, visiting the sick and other unfortunates of the parish, her observations and experiences a valuable source for her later stories. It was well received by the critics. Thus began a career that spanning three decades provided thirty-three novels, hundreds of short stories, and fourteen plays.  Her work was largely focused on rural life in Norfolk and centered on the fictional town of Dulditch, with grim but authentic accounts of poverty and deprivation. Her marriage produced one boy and three girls. With her husband's death in 1913, she moved to Sheringham. She is regarded as a major contributor to East Anglian literature with particular praise given to her short stories.Mary E Mann died on 19th May 1929. She was 80.
