For nearly as long as there have been television cartoons, there have theatrical films based on those cartoons. This show dares to ask the ultimate question- what if a couple of grown adults actually sat down to watch all of these things? From the cheapo '60s Hanna-Barbera productions, to the even cheaper feature-length toy commercials of the '80s, to the "generic male lead on a road trip with a CGI woodchuck" movies of the modern age, we're watching every single American film based on TV cartoons, discussing them, and hopefully keeping a grip on our sanity.

Hey There, It's Yogi Bear (1964)

In this inaugural episode of Saturday Morning Cinema, we discuss the first ever cinematic adaptation of an American TV cartoon- the 1964 classic(?), Hey There, It's Yogi Bear. We get into the death of theatrical short-form animation, the straightwashing of Yogi and Boo-Boo for the mainstream, and the horrific authoritarian police state that is Jellystone Park. So grab your pic-a-nic basket and settle in for Saturday Morning Cinema!
