SADurdays Episode 58 (8/2/25) special guests Jason Vena & Kaylan Cloyd (Acceptance)

My guests on the show this week are Jason Vena and Kaylan Cloyd of the band Acceptance. We’ll be chatting about the band’s influences, what it was like for them navigating major label releases, and much more. And in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the album, the band is releasing a reimagined version of their quintessential album, Phantoms, called Phantoms/Twenty, recorded by original producer, Aaron Sprinkle, amid the band’s reunion and milestone anniversary. And while the band did redo their parts, this isn’t just any standard re-recording. To give new context to its profound and lasting legacy, Acceptance enlisted a wide range of artists across various genres, many of whom were inspired by the band. There are those who were already close to Acceptance including Stephen Christian of Anberlin who will also be on the show next week, Memphis May Fire’s Matty Mullins, Boys Like Girls frontman Martin Johnson, The Maine’s John O’Callaghan, Jenna McDougall from Tonight Alive and Hevenshe, All Time Low’s Alex Gaskarth, State Champs vocalist Derek DiScanio as well as Teddy Swims who has publicly shared that the band inspired and admitted the first song he learned how to play on guitar was an Acceptance track. Thanks to the fellas for chatting about one of my favorite albums ever made.

SADurdays Episode 57 (7/26/25) special guest Stephen Christian (Anberlin / Anchor & Braille)

My guest on this weekend’s show is Stephen Christian, formerly the singer of Anberlin and also the voice behind the project Anchor & Braille.
We’ll be chatting about Anberlin’s origins, how he decided to pass the torch of Anberlin’s lead vocalist to Matty Mullins of Memphis May Fire, and Stephen’s solo project Anchor & Braille + the brand new album New Mexico that comes out July 25 on Equal Vision records.
After moving from the Sunshine State to a small town in New Mexico, the time esteemed rock vocalist Stephen Christian spent in that town had a profound effect on him that remains with him to this day. That’s why, even after returning back to Florida, Christian has decided to pay tribute to New Mexico on the fifth Anchor & Braille full-length, which is not only named after the state, but whose 14 tracks capture its heart and soul. Just by listening to it, you can tell much of a cherished place it remains for the songwriter. NEW MEXICO is due July 25 via Equal Vision Records.
“I have not had more fun creating music on a record, maybe in my life,” Christian shares, and continues, “It was just so much fun to create. These songs are all internal dialogs I’ve had with myself, where I’m trying to figure out how I can help someone if they’re having the same thoughts or the same anxiety or the same worries. Because if they are, hopefully they can find a little bit of solace in this music. It’s supposed to be a full-on immersive experience. I want people to explore this place and help them feel at home, no matter where they are.”

SADurdays Episode 56 (7/19/25) special guest Beauty School Dropout

My guest on this weekend's show is the b and Beauty School Dropout. We will be chatting about their experience playing Warped Tour’s 30th anniversary in D.C. last month, touring alongside with Blink 182, working with producer Neal Avron on their upcoming album, and much more on this weekend’s broadcast.

This summer, they'll hit the road on the Idobi Radio Summer School Tour, plus select Warped Tour dates.

With over 60 million global streams across their debut and sophomore releases (WE MADE PLANS AND GOD LAUGHED and READY TO EAT), and signed by A&R Mark Hoppus under the trailblazing new label Verswire with Pete Wentz and Sherry Saeedi, the band has earned praise from major press outlets globally such as Billboard, Alt Press, SPIN, NME, and many more.

BSD have already made an incredible mark as a live act, touring with blink-182 on their massive arena tour and joining Jaden Hossler across the U.S. They’ve delivered standout sets at major festivals, including four performances at Lollapalooza — with a breakout moment on the BMI Stage in front of 3,000 fans — and a spotlight appearance at Download Festival’s 20th anniversary. Their own highly-touted headline tours have sold out venues in major markets like New York, Los Angeles, and Nashville, while their high-energy rock show has also taken them overseas, with Maggie Lindemann and Stand Atlantic across the UK and Europe.
