Kürzlich bin ich wieder mal über einen Rassenbeschrieb gestolpert und habe in der Sparte "Charakter und Persönlichkeit" allerhand gelesen: Von "kinderlieb" über "angstfrei" bis hin zu "charakterstark" oder "Beschützerinstinkt". Die Persönlichkeit der Hunde einer Rasse werden zum Verkaufsmerkmal. Doch auch in Vermittlungstexten von Tierheimhunden fallen mir immer wieder interessante (vermeintliche) Charakterzüge von Hunden auf.
Was hat es damit auf sich? Können wir die Persönlichkeit eines Hundes züchten? Ist der Charakter eines Hundes rassebedingt? Was sagt die Wissenschaft dazu? Und können wir vom Verhalten eines Hundes im Tierheim auf seine Persönlichkeit schliessen? Diesen Fragen gehe ich in dieser Folge auf den Grund.
