Ruminations from the Red Room
Abusive relationship? Technology and Music

We continue to knock the rust off with a new episode of Ruminations From The Red Room.  We yak yak about a few odd topics from gamer tags to politics and settle in for a chat on how technology has brushed up against the world of music, and its impact on that great expression of human soul and art... is it all art?  Does the tactile have no place? Does a whole album matter anymore?  Can hit songs be enough?  Where does the convenience end, and the meaning begin?

Ruminations from the Red Room
Ruminating On The Cure - Songs of a Lost World

"That's what we know now" - Ian Avery On the themes and topics Robert Smith bestowed on us...Aging and death.  Our boy Ian hits it on the head again.  We wax poetic, and gothic.  We mourn and celebrate our youth and our old age.  The band gets back together again.  How do 4 years pass so quickly.  Again? We take time to reflect, and ruminate on the impossibly great Cure album "Songs of a Lost World".  The maestro dropped on us an album so complete and compelling, and more than a decade and a half from the last full album, that we dive in, letting the oceans of sound wash over us.  It moved us.  A bunch of aging rock fans, musicians, fathers, friends... We start the conversation with light talk of Transformers and shows of yesteryear, and wrap it up with the targeted discussion that takes us deep into the velvety dark beauty of a band and album that we all admit, are so very, very lucky to have in the world.  God bless He-of-the-Smeared-Red-Lipstick.

Ruminations from the Red Room
Introducing "Oh God It Hz!"

Please welcome the newest show to the Ruminations Radio Network, Oh God It Hz!  These guys are a wealth of laughs, knowledge, and comfort.  Take a stroll down our collective past of gaming, and our current ocean of game news and events.  Enthusiasts of an art that brings people together, take a listen, you're sure to identify with Oh God It Hz!

Live on tape from Tucson, AZ & Osaka, Japan… JJJ and GameAgent ET deliver a biweekly blast of insight on the world of video gaming through a retro-fueled lens as a pair of lifelong friends catching up over hot mics across the Pacific Ocean. Sometimes it’s taking on gaming’s biggest issues with the history of the biz firmly in mind, sometimes it’s an open requiem for cool things, people, and places we miss, but there’s always an inside joke being slipped into the cracks as two gentlemen whose life paths have been forever woven together and influenced by this passion of theirs as console gaming enters its ninth generation.

Introducing Ruminations of a Six Button Samurai
We welcome the Six Button Samurai to the Ruminations Radio Network. His new podcast takes a different approach to the world of gaming and arcades. Why did that game capture your imagination? Why did you drop so many quarters into that machine after school? Why does the theme song to your favorite game take you back, and make you feel like a kid again? What does gaming mean on an emotional level, and as an art form? Don't take my word for it. Check out his show on the Ruminations Radio Network, Spotify, iTunes, and wherever you get your favorite shows. #gaming #arcades #retrogaming #videogames

Ruminations from the Red Room
Rumination on Sad Songs Ep 4
welcome back to our ruminations. From here, in the red room. This episode we’re joined by returning guests Mike “call me Arvig” Arvig, and Charlie “Triple C” Langley. We’re back to ruminate on some sad sad songs, as given us by Mr. Tom Reynolds and his book “i hate myself and want to die”. Its all in fun, and while mr Reynolds book is very tongue in cheek, it is still my belief that there’s some heart there in recognizing these sad songs….sometimes the hurt has to find a way out and nothing salves the wounds of life like a good laugh. This episode we’ll be covering the chapter “If I Sing About Drugs, People Will Take Me Seriously” “Captain Jack” Billy Joel 1974 “Let her Cry” Hootie and the Blowfish 1994 “Sam Stone” John Prine 1972 www.RuminationsRadioNetwork.com Twitter: Ruminations@FromTheRedRoom http://guillermotheivth.blogspot.com/ Facebook Ruminations from the Red Room Instagram www.instagram.com/FromTheRedRoom Music and Production by Mitch Proctor

Ruminations from the Red Room
Being Excellent To Each Other - A Resonance On Bill And Ted
Being Excellent to Each Other - a Resonance on Bill and Ted In this pt 2 episode, which follows hot on the heels of our Rumination on Generations, we wax nostalgic on Bill and Ted, their Excellent Adventure, and Bogus Journey. A generational touch stone itself, the first Bill and Ted was a fantasy ride full of optimism and hope. The idea that music could save the world, could create a harmonious existence and unite people was an inspiration, one we could use a little more of now. Today it seems people need a little boost, a bit of levity, and while we’re at it, perhaps whip a little love and compassion at ‘em at the same time. The joy, and positivity that the original movie exhibits, smoothly invites all watchers to enjoy the moment, live for our dreams, and simply “be excellent to each other”. So we chat about what the movie meant to us, what moments we remember most fondly and what we hope for the third installment, “Bill and Ted Face the Music”, which as of this writing, becomes available today in theaters and via on-demand services. This writer for one can’t wait. We’ll be watching with friends around the country and, while we can’t be in the same room, and we’re not heading out to the theatre, we very much intend to “party on dudes”. Ruminations from the Red Room
Rumination On Generations
Rumination on Generations ...on the eve of a generational story, and a return of the "Great Ones" known as Bill & Ted... ...Critical thinking, attention span, impact of a digital world and social media…we hit these in a conversational, anecdotal way. We just chat up some thoughts on why some of the, in our view, small inconveniences with which people are struggling, are seen as such. We put forth that while each persons experience is individual and creates their scope and perspective, some generations are better suited for adversity. We talk about the drive to get approval from the tribe, and the different ways we seek to find that. All that leads us into the next episode, as we chat up the Resonance that we feel with Bill & Ted and their excellent adventures.
