Hey all! Zachary Frederickson here, your friendly neighborhood GM. You might be wondering why there’s no episode in the feed today, and it falls to me as the GM and de facto voice of Roll Dice and Cry to pass on the news that unfortunately, the podcast is no longer in production.
This year was really hard for us to get everybody together; there’s been a couple month-long gaps between recording sessions, and lots of new opportunities opening up for our castmates means that we collectively don’t have the same amount of time and energy to dedicate to the podcast that we once did. With that in mind, we’ve decided to definitively end it. Believe me, it wasn’t an easy decision, but it was the one that we decided was most healthy for everybody involved.
I just want to take this chance to say that making this podcast with my friends has been some of the best times I’ve ever had, and that was only improved by being able to read your thoughts and reactions each week. You, the fans, have made this experience all the richer, and I can’t thank you enough for that.
Now, while the show might have ended, it’s certainly not disappearing from the internet. The Soundcloud and Youtube archives are still staying up, and as far as I know the Pippa feed will still be here for awhile. Plus, we’re all over the internet, too!
-The roles of Zara Fontaine and Marge Devlin were played by Emily Reisbeck. Emily is working on some new stuff, and It’s Your Funeral is coming out from Iron Circus Comics in 2020. You can read their webcomic at bluevalkyriecomic.tumblr.com and find them on Twitter @thebluevalkyrie.
-The roles of Radiant Eyre and Loic Luck were played by Mari Costa. Mari’s ongoing webcomic Peritale can be found at peritale.com, and her past comics work can be found at maricomics.com. You can follow her on Twitter @marinscos.
-The roles of Adeline Fleetwood and Theodore Sinclair were played by Sloan, who can be found on Twitter @_Sloanzone.
-The roles of Ford Maphorn and Bailey “The Daily” Sarton were played by Nikita, who can be found on twitter @Chanderclear.
-Finally, the roles of Game Master and Bartimaeus Nemo have been played by Zachary Frederickson. You can find me on twitter @obfuscatingGod.
As the curtains fall one last time, I just want to say, from the bottom of my heart,
Thank you, and goodnight.

Every private investigator worth their salt knows that a large percentage of all crimes happen in the home. Thus, when investigating a crime, you can usually find the culprit in the living room.

Huge thanks to everybody who sent in questions! This is the last thing we've recorded for season 1, and we're so glad to have gotten the responses that we got! Heads up, there was a little bit of audio corruption in the recording process; I tried to mitigate it as much as possible but it's definitely still present, so be prepared for that. We'll be sure to watch out for it in season 2 and make sure it doesn't happen again.
Speaking of season 2, we're still not 100% sure when that's going to be up! There's still some work to do on our end before it's ready, but keep an eye on our twitter @Rolldiceandcry for updates and information!
Thank you for joining us this far, and we hope you'll continue to join us in the future!

Hello and happy holidays! Got a special kind of episode for you this week, as we turn the clock back a bit to a time before the season one finale!
Before the battle of Castle Silverhome, before the reveals and the betrayals and the deaths.
One kobold must find a way to share holiday cheer.
We'll be back on January 9 with the post-mortem Q&A! Look forward to it! And everything else we've got coming!!!

Amatyne the Sunturion walks her patrol across the sky, tied sandals brushing silently against starry half-roads. Her brilliant spear hangs heavy in her hand, and she looks dearly forward to rest. In the world below, the New Titans fight desperately against the forces of Anguish, the forces that drove her to take up this patrol in the first place, and Amatyne aches that she cannot be there to more directly assist her bygone charges.
Amatyne looks down at the world below, keeping pace, watching the old machines wage their time-old war again. She sees Florian there, in the Coruscate Chevalier, fighting side-by-side with the Bulwark Tempest just as the old days, and Amatyne cannot help but feel a swell of pride within her heart. That is her girl, there. Her beloved knight. Still fighting after so long, just like her.
The Queen Deposed, the Knight Made New, Amatyne readjusts her grip on her spear. She tightens her fingers around her shield, the burning corona of molten light no more trouble to her than a candle at midnight.
With a smile on her lips, she continues her patrol.

Solomon Steps-In-Silence dances through the halls of Castle Silverhome, blades flashing. It isn't the attack he'd expected--honestly, he had flagged Dauntless Leroux as the one to try something stupid--but still, he feels a bit of vindication in calling the fact that something was going to set this party awry. Now, he gets to do what he did best.
A pack of these strange, tar-filled crabs scrabble at the door to a broom closet; Solomon hears scared whimpering within. With a smirk and a whistle, he beckons the beasts toward him, juggling a pair of long, wicked knives to get their attention. One of them leaps at him, and a flick of the wrist pins it to the wall; the rest converge on the spot he was seconds ago to find it empty, and Solomon perched on a nearby table, whistling.
The remaining monsters charge, smashing the table to splinters as Solomon effortlessly tumbles through the air above them. He feels good, in his element. Perhaps that is why he doesn't notice the bifurcated husk scattered on the ground right where his foot lands. The shell cracks underfoot, spinning off in two directions, and Solomon falls head over heels to the floor.
Whipping himself up into a crouch, Solomon has just enough time to see the final creature lunge at him--no time to react, no time to do anything--before his dropped blade whistles through the air and pierces it. The lifeless husk of the onyx crab falls to pieces around him, and Solomon looks to see the identity of his savior.
Jamison Points-The-Way stands, arm extended, fingers forward, just the way his brother taught him as boys in the orphanage all those years ago. He had never taken a life, and in a way still hasn't; to call the existence of these creatures "life" is to levy far too much credit on their creator. Still, to move your hand and cause a moving thing to cease is no easy thing.
Solomon Steps-In-Silence looks up at his brother.
And stands.
And grins.

The village of Low Tide is abuzz. Kobolds jump from boat to boat, sharing the news even as it becomes more and more evident to every citizen:
There is something happening in the chapel.
The mighty riverboat that holds Low Tide's congregation each worship is rocking as if in a wild storm on the high sea, and it takes the combined might of the strongest of Low Tide's citizens to lash it to the nearby trees and quell its wild motion enough to board it. There, in the chaos of strewn pews and spilled offering jars, the source is obvious.
A clay statue, molded by the town's pride and joy to replace one mysteriously broken. It is shaped in the visage of the kobold's interpretation of Old Chained Tzela, with an accuracy borne of earnestness and love more than actual skill. The kobolds of Low Tide love it all the more for its flaws, exemplifying the best aspects of their community: love without shame, expression without restraint, effort without reluctance.
The crude idol floats above the chapel altar, bolts of divine electricity arcing off of it.
And every kobold who beholds it, in the back of their head, hears the words of defiance whispered over steady, thumping drums.
Chained beneath the deep.
But we will rise again.

Olivier von Argent crossed her arms and frowned, looking down at the thing that had once been her, sprawled among broken jars and scattered sundries.
"Oh, this won't do at all," she said. "There's still so much left to do."
"THERE IS ALWAYS MORE TO DO," said a voice from the shadows beside her. "SOMEONE ELSE WILL DO IT NOW."
Olivier turned to the figure beside her and sighed. Already the tension of the day was leaving her, a spring uncoiling after a lifetime of tautness. But still:
"What if they do it wrong, without me there to guide them?"
"THAT WILL BE THEIR CONCERN, NOT YOURS. YOU HAVE WORKED HARD. YOU HAVE EARNED REST."
Olivier worried at her lip, glancing down at her body even as she drifted towards the figure.
"There will still be parties where we're going, won't there? I'm a very good event planner, you know. I would hate for my talents to... Depreciate."
The figure tilted its head at her. Beneath the voluminous shadows of its hood, Olivier thought she saw the barest glimpse of a smile; but then, of course, she supposed skulls were always smiling. The figure held out its hand, and Olivier took it.
"MY LADY ADORES A GOOD PARTY."

Solomon Steps-in-silence rakes his eyes over the gala from where he stands, arms crossed and leaning against one of the buffet tables. He twitches his hand slightly, feels the reassuring weight of the knives hidden in his sleeves, and sighs.
Florian had put on a brave face that afternoon, but she knows as well as he that an attack like that isn't the end of what the Anguished had in store for them. He's been in enough silent backroom wars to recognize it for what it was.
It wasn't a coup de grâce. It was a warning shot.
Now the only thing he can do is keep an eye on all these victims and wait for the other shoe to drop. The assassin smiles warmly as a servant hands him a flute of champagne, but the expression doesn't reach his eyes. It never does.
Solomon Steps-in-silence dumps his drink into a nearby planter.
And watches.
And waits.

Anthony Argent sits haphazardly on a chaise lounge, its feet scuffed and slightly crooked from where he painstaking dragged it down into the caverns beneath the castle. Down here, he has not heard the impact that rocked the upper levels mere minutes ago. Here, in his secret chamber of reflection, the only sound is the music he makes.
He ceases playing, for a moment, to touch the scars on the side of his head. All these years later and he still winces as he runs his fingers across them. He had been distraught back then, forced to shave his head to avoid infection. Of course, the youth of Behren immediately shaved the sides of their own heads in response. A fashion trend, or solidarity perhaps, but at the time he had believed them mocking him and shut himself away in the castle.
The scars had faded in the intervening years, diminished from their ugly red lines to soft and subtle white ridges, and he'd kept the haircut. Perhaps the time to heal the interpersonal scars had come, as well. It had been a shock, seeing the figure of his nightmares in stark daylight, but Linnae was a man, not a monster. Right? Even if the sight of him caused Anthony's knees to buckle and mouth to run dry, he owed it to his new matriarch to do his best to play nice.
Right?
Unable to find answers in the moment, Anthony simply continues to play.

Kevin Ramone paces in his observatory, flitting between the notes spread out across his desk and the array of telescopes that cluster their way across his balcony window, each one fixed ever northward. The darkening of the moon's bottom edge over the past months as if some shadow were eating away at it was troubling enough, but now these... anomalies that had appeared in the last day, getting larger by the hour... he isn't ashamed to admit that they terrify him. Kevin drags both hands through his hair, wishes things were simpler, safer. He wishes things with Amadeus--No, Ford, he was Ford now--were easier, wishes they could talk like normal people again. Most of all, he wishes that he is wrong.
Kevin presses his eye to the telescopes viewfinder and his heart drops.
He wasn't wrong.
And there is a new dark spot in the sky.
