Favoritism, factions, and greed that harm human families can also occur among God’s family and keep us from coming to the table or keep us from sharing at the table. By insisting that life is our own private dinner we never give our part to alieviate the famine of food and of love.
Many friendships, families and marriages live in the deadlock between pride and vindictiveness. When you hurt me, I believe I have two options- I will prove to you I am great or I will wait for you to turn your back to me. But the Kingdom of God does not leave us either of those options.
By disengaging, the more time we spend at something the less we know about it. By determining to be an active learner we can grow to be an active participant. As we grow in participation we become leaders.
