Welcome! Today we're diving into the biggest transfer saga of the summer: the situation with Alexander Isak at Newcastle. The player is reportedly frustrated after feeling a promise was broken, but what's really going on behind closed doors?
In this video, we discuss:
From a player's perspective: The raw frustration of a promise being broken and why a written agreement is the only thing that matters in modern football.
The Newcastle asking price: Why revealing the number is the key to gaining fan sympathy. Is the club's valuation of £150m unrealistic, or are they deliberately pricing him out of a move?
Transfer negotiations: An unfiltered take on player loyalty, and why forcing an issue is sometimes the only way to get a transfer done.
A personal experience: Drawing on my own past experience at Leeds, I explain why I understand the player's position and what it takes to stand your ground.
Let us know your thoughts in the comments: Should Isak tell the fans the real asking price?

Rio is joined by Joel and Ste to discuss Arsenal’s victory at Old Trafford including how the performances of defenders Luke Shaw and Leny Yoro gave Ruben Amorim’s side the ideal platform to look dangerous in attack.
After a lot of negativity on social media about Arsenal's summer signing Viktor Gyokeres - Rio looks at whether he will be effective as the club’s talisman and there’s praise for Manchester City’s new signings Tijjani Reijnders and Ryan Cherki who gets compared to Jack Grealish.
And at the time of the season where there’s huge focus on players’ sharpness, fitness and physicality, we invite Dan Edwards onto the pod. He has worked with some of the world’s leading players like Trent Alexander-Arnold, Eduardo Camavinga and Bryan Mbuemo and he details why the work he does is so valuable whilst responding to claims by some clubs that working with 1on1 coaches is ‘dangerous’.

Welcome to the channel! The transfer window is in full swing and we've got a bombshell coming out of Old Trafford. Manchester United's new priority is Carlos Baleba!
We dive deep into the reported £100m bid for the Brighton star and ask the big questions:
Why is Baleba "the one" for United's midfield?
What are his key attributes, and who is he best suited to play alongside?
Could other United players like Mbeumo and Onana have played a role in persuading him to join?
But that's not all! The transfer window is in full chaos:
Hojlund is OUT! Fabrizio Romano has confirmed his loan deal to AC Milan is close to completion. United are clear: they want him to go. We break down the details of the deal.
Donnarumma is being linked with a move to United and City after quotes from his agent and manager. Is a Premier League switch on the cards?
Jack Grealish to Everton on a loan-to-buy? The rumour of a £50m move is a real surprise!
We also give a huge shout-out to Brighton for their incredible business, with insane fees for players like Caicedo, Pedro, and Cucurella. Are they the best club in the world at buying and selling?
Let us know what you think of all this transfer madness in the comments!

Rio, Joel and Ste get together ahead of Arsenal’s visit to Old Trafford for the first game of the season to discuss how they think their teams will fare this season.
There’s discussion about how the signing of Gyokeres could put Arteta’s job under more scrutiny and Joel reveals what he feels the Spaniard needs to achieve this season in order to be considered successful.
Rio and Ste analyse the improvements made to Manchester United’s forward line and compare the arrival of Benjamin Sesko to when Rasmus Hojlund joined the club. The stats of their seasons before arriving at Old Trafford are strikingly similar so the trio discuss why and how Sesko can enjoy a more fruitful time at the club.
Ste has a left-field shout for a last-minute free signing - Rio’s not convinced but does compare one of Ruben Amorim's current players to a main-stay of the successful team from the Champions League winning era he enjoyed whilst playing for Sir Alex Ferguson.

Harry Maguire sits down with Rio who admits he was a bit nervous about the interview before it started following comments he made about Maguire’s performances in a Manchester United shirt.
Harry addresses these and the level of scrutiny that he has faced whilst at Old Trafford discussing them with Rio along with a number of other issues.
Maguire reveals what it was like after Bruno Fernandes was given the captaincy by Erik Ten Hag last season and why he thinks he performed differently for England compared to playing for Manchester United.
Rio is particularly invested in hearing how players in his position are asked to play so the pair dig into the demands on central defenders from manager Ruben Amorim and in today’s game in general. Maguire also describes how much he’s looking forward to this season after a ‘tough’ pre-season which he says has been great at bringing the players together and helping acclimatise to Ruben Amorim’s style of play.

After returning from Manchester United’s pre-season tour in America, Rio is back in the studio with Joel Beya to analyse Arsenal’s summer business in the transfer window where the pair pay particular attention to the signing of Viktor Gyokeres.
Rio clarifies his comments about not wanting him to sign for Man Utd and discusses the fact the vast majority of his goals in Portgual came against teams at the bottom of the table. Joel gives his thoughts on the signing of Noni Madueke after sections of the Arsenal fanbase signed petitions persuading the club to not sign the winger from Chelsea.
Rio and Joel reveal who is their favourite player to watch in the Premier League and Rio discusses the character and mentality of the 6 individuals chosen by manager Ruben Amorim to form his new leadership group at the club.

Welcome to Rio Reacts! Today, we're diving headfirst into the transfer stories that are getting your WhatsApp groups buzzing, from Manchester United's evolving squad to Arsenal's incredible young talents!
First up, the latest from Old Trafford: Bryan Mbeumo is IN, and Marcus Rashford is OUT to Barcelona!
That leaves Amorim's 'bomb squad' of Garnacho, Antony, Sancho, and Malacia – could their exits be key to United's remaining transfer budget?
Fabrizio Romano says outgoings are crucial for the striker budget after spending big on Cunha and Mbeumo. So, despite big names like Isak, Sesko, and Nicholas Jackson being floated, are United really on a low budget for a striker?
We're looking at names like Ollie Watkins (17 goals, 14 assists in 54 apps last season at 29 years old) and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (3 goals, 1 assist in 26 apps last season at 28 years old, and available on a free transfer!).
Let me know what YOU think about the Man United striker situation! If the club ends up with a low budget, who should they be targeting? Could they still land a big-name striker if they sell all the players they want to move on?
Away from United, I want to talk about Arsenal's incredible young talents!
Remember Max Dowman? I first mentioned him as a 14-year-old last November. Now 15, he's become one of the youngest Arsenal players to feature for the first team in a pre-season friendly against AC Milan in Singapore! Declan Rice even described him as "the best 15-year-old in the country."
Unbelievably, Marli Salmon, also 15, featured in that same game! Arteta himself commented that these young talents are "able to play at that level at 15 years old... because of the environment and culture within the team."
Arsenal fans, what do you think? Could this be a really big year ahead for your young talents?
Finally, big news for the channel! I'm off tomorrow on tour with the squad! Rio Ferdinand sits down with former team mate Michael Carrick to discuss his role during one of the most succesful periods of Manchester United's recent history.
After reminiscing about nights out as West Ham youngsters and dealing with an interruption from their former manager, the pair discuss how Carrick and Paul Scholes used to break games down together in the Manchester United midfield.
Rio asks his former team mate to pick his favourite season of playing with Cristiano Ronaldo and Carrick reveals the difference in approach from being his team mate to being his coach during his second spell at the club.
Carrick also analyses Kobbie Mainoo and names his best position in Ruben Amorim's system plus reserves special praise for two players he coached at the club, Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay.
After discussing the impact that Sir Alex Ferguson had on his career, Carrick reveals something from his childhood which meant the boss knew he could cope with the demands of playing at one of the biggest clubs in the world.
The pair also have a laugh whilst reminiscing about the time spent with team mates Wayne Rooney, John O'Shea, Edwin Van der Sar, Nemanja Vidic, Paul Scholes, Michael Owen at the training ground on Thursday afternoons studying for their coaching badges.

Welcome back to the channel, everyone! The transfer window is absolutely WILD for Manchester United, with massive moves happening that could reshape the club's future!
First up, the huge news: Marcus Rashford is heading to Barcelona on loan! Barca are set to pay his full £315,000-a-week wages, saving United a staggering £17 million. We dive deep into Rashford's 426 games, 138 goals, and 77 assists for United.
What does Hansi Flick need to do to unlock the real Rashford?
Does Marcus still have the hunger?
Will he even get a game at Barca against Raphinha, Yamal, and Lewandowski?
Can he reinvent himself in Spain in a way he couldn't at United?
His comments about wanting to play with Yamal – is that already a sign of feeling inferior?
What can Yamal learn from Rashford?
Imagine an El Clásico head-to-head between Rashford and Trent Alexander-Arnold!
Did Marcus do enough at United to earn this move, or is this his last real chance to reignite his career? We want to see that smile and the Marcus Rashford we all know again!
If it goes well, what should the permanent fee be, considering Villa's £40m for someone else?
Then, the latest on Jadon Sancho: His switch from Manchester United to Juventus is reportedly close to completion! Juventus are ready to meet United's £21.6m asking price for the England winger, who is set to sign a four-year contract worth £5.2m per year.
And what about Alejandro Garnacho? There's no noise, no rumours – is he apologising and coming back into the fold, or is he done at the club?
Finally, we wrap up with our thoughts on how the transfer window is going for United overall, and who should be their next key target.
Stay tuned for a big Rio Meets episode tomorrow with one of my former teammates from our time at United!
