Remnants is a dark fantasy thriller audio drama following the Apprentice as he learns how to read remnants under the frustrating supervision of Sir. Remnants are seemingly innocuous objects – a broken pocket watch; a steel thimble; a silk scarf – but when the Apprentice looks closely, he sees how each one holds the remnants of someone’s life story.
Each week the Apprentice reads a new remnant, following that person’s journery beginning to end. When he’s done, he must make a judgement; shelve or discard. But he doesn’t know what the criteria is or what the consequences of such a judgement might be.
The more remnants the Apprentice reads, the more we begin to understand the magnitude of the task he has been set. And the more both we, and the Apprentice himself, wonder why it is him who has been chosen to do it.
With every week, a new mystery. With every new mystery, a terrible choice.

Hey folks!
So remember how I said at the end of the Q&A that Remnants would be coming out 25th August unless something went wrong? I think I might have jinxed myself by saying that out loud, because something did go wrong! But that’s okay. Release is being pushed back until 6th of October which is just six weeks after the original planned release date.
The shape of this season is a liiiiiittle bit different to season one! There will be thirty episodes of the show, and they’ll be releasing in ten episode blocks, with three week gaps in between each block. Those gaps will be filled with more Real Remnants! Hopefully this will be fun.
But! In order to make Season Two of Remnants happen, I need your help! I’ve just COMPLETELY overhauled my Patreon to make it better and more sustainable. There’s a bunch of new offerings over there, and you can still access all the Creator’s Notes for Season One, PLUS ad-free access to the all thirty episodes of S1.
For Season Two, you’ll be able to get Early Access to episodes as they release, INCLUDING access to Remnants S2’s first episode a full ten days before everyone else. S2 will be getting Creator’s Notes just like S1, and there will be bonus remnants you can read which expand the world of the show.
Patreon supporters also get thanks in the credits of my Season Finales. But something cool for everyone who signs up before Remnants S2 starts airing in October at Mega Slothling Tier or higher will get their name listed on the Hanging Sloth Website forEVER. A note: this episode mentions the development of the polio vaccine. This vaccine's development is wacky and absolutely wild in its own right, and many of the methods used, particularly early in the process, were completely bonkers and would not hold up to modern scrutiny; indeed many were criticised even at the time. The point is to highlight a case where people were not non-consensually used to innovate medically, NOT to highlight an example of a perfect developmental process. If I can find an excuse to talk about the development of the polio vaccine in more depth at some point, I absolutely will because it is completely wild.
