Don Dada – Voice of the People, Heart of the Movement
I get my words from God and I write down the message.”
— Don Dada, the revolutionary voice behind Rise Up and The Heart & The Mind This is not your average artist interview. This is a global call to truth. On this powerful episode of the Reggae Hour Podcast, we sit down with South Africa’s genre-defying musical prophet Don Dada, the first artist from his country to be signed to Bob Marley’s Tuff Gong International, and a leading voice of resistance, youth empowerment, and artistic revolution across the African continent. 🎧 Streaming July 3rd at 7PM CT on:
  • iHeartRadio
  • Amazon Music
  • Apple Podcasts
Subscribe and Tune In. This is the conversation they don’t want you to hear. 🗣️ What You’ll Hear: 🔥 "You can’t be speaking on something you don’t understand. Let people from that culture speak for themselves."
Don Dada breaks down the exploitation of African identity in global narratives. From whitewashed media headlines to cultural erasure, he calls on creatives worldwide to listen before speaking. 🔥 “We should be focused on strengthening home because once we do that, our voice becomes powerful on the global stage.”
A searing critique of economic dependency and imported validation. This quote alone reshapes the global music industry's role in Africa. Build at home. Then rise. 🔥 "Africa has been looked at as a sleeping entity... to see them awakening now, realizing their power—it’s a beautiful thing."
This is the heartbeat of the African Renaissance. Dada lays out a vision of unity, identity, and revolution powered by music and truth. 🔥 "Africa is as good as anywhere else in the world… we’re just exploited more than anyone else."
No more sugarcoating. Don Dada exposes the propaganda war that keeps the real Africa hidden.
Spoiler: It’s not starving children and mud huts—it’s gold veins worth trillions and youth ready to lead. 🔥 “If you're right next to them when their time is beginning, there's no difference—you just continue moving forward.”
A masterclass in humility and mentorship. Through Rough Cut Studios, Don Dada is raising the next generation of African creatives with tools in production, publishing, marketing, and spiritual discipline. 🌍 Who Is Don Dada?

Billy Mystic Surfing Soundwaves and Spirit- 40 Years of Roots, Righteousness, and Revolutionary Reggae
In this soul-shaking and spirit-lifting episode of the Reggae Hour Podcast, host Mr. E welcomes legendary reggae frontman Billy Mystic of the Mystic Revealers — the band that has been delivering truth, justice, and JAH love since the late 1970s.

🌍 Straight from Bull Bay, Jamaica, Mystic Revealers rose from sound system culture to global roots reggae acclaim — releasing tracks like “Mash Down Apartheid” (with Jimmy Cliff), “Justice for the Poor”, and their latest prophetic album, “Jah Jah People.”

🎙️ In this deep and heartfelt conversation, Billy Mystic takes us on a journey through:

The founding of Mystic Revealers and the early sound system days

Their fearless anti-apartheid anthem that reached the African National Congress

Why the band refused to abandon roots reggae for the flash of digital dancehall

The fire that burned his home — and how it revealed what really matters

Building “Pon Di Verandah” studio with his children and recording again after the ashes

The true purpose of ganja culture and how modern misuse has strayed from spiritual roots

His faith in the Most High JAH and the redemption that powers his every lyric

“Victory is easy... what you have to learn is how to handle defeat, disappointment, and still keep going.” — Billy Mystic

“We’re not just a band. We’re doing the works of the Most High JAH, Rastafari.”

“Life is like surfing. You paddle with everything you have to catch the wave — then rise and ride it with purpose.”

Behind the Music with Don Dada – The Heart & The Mind
This week on BOSS Radio, we had the pleasure of diving deep into the world of reggae and hip-hop with none other than South African multi-platinum artist Don Dada. His latest project, the double album "The Heart & The Mind," is making waves globally and touching on issues that resonate with listeners from all walks of life.

During our interview, we discussed three standout tracks from the album: Rise Up, Blessings, and Memories. Each song encapsulates a unique aspect of Don Dada’s musical philosophy—whether it’s pushing through life’s struggles, recognizing the blessings around us, or reflecting on the power of memory. These songs speak directly to the heart and mind, a perfect reflection of the album’s theme.

But the conversation went beyond music. Don Dada and I touched on pressing issues, like the ongoing battle over public access to Bob Marley Beach in Jamaica, and similar struggles over land rights in South Africa. The artist’s perspective on the global impact of these struggles added depth to our discussion, showing how his music is not only a call to action but a representation of the world’s current climate.

The Heart & The Mind is a two-disc masterpiece: one disc is packed with reggae and dancehall vibes that uplift the spirit, while the other disc delves into hip-hop, tackling societal challenges head-on. This album perfectly captures the duality of the human experience—the emotional and the intellectual.

If you haven’t already, now’s the time to stream this powerful album. As Don Dada said in the interview, “clear some time and take in the full journey.” You won’t regret it!

From Reggae Rockstar to Gospel Crusader: The Epic Journey of Shalom! #Reggae #Gospel #MusicLegend
SHALOM!!!

Get ready for a reggae redemption story that will have you shouting "Hallelujah!" and skanking to the beat all at once. Today, we delve into the incredible life and music of Stephen Omar Harper, better known by his stage names: Stevie Wonder (yes, you read that right!), and the mighty Shalom!

Shalom's journey began in 1968, in the heart of Kingston, Jamaica. Music coursed through his veins from a young age, with the eight-year-old already belting out tunes. Fate intervened when he met the legendary Sugar Minott, founder of Youth Man Promotion Recording Studio. This is where Stevie Wonder, the name (don't ask!), transformed into a teenage reggae enthusiast soaking up knowledge under the wing of a master.

Those early days saw Shalom touring the globe as a backup vocalist alongside the likes of the late Jennifer Lara. He crisscrossed continents, experiencing the electric energy of reggae fans in England, Germany, France, Canada, Japan, the US, and even Africa!

By 1997, it was time to step out of the shadows. Shalom emerged, and with him came the smash hit "Baby I've Got News For You." This wasn't just any song; it dominated the charts in Jamaica, England, and even Malawi for a whopping 14 weeks! Love songs like "I Love You Forever" solidified Shalom's place as a reggae force to be reckoned with.

Then, in 2002, a twist of fate (or perhaps divine intervention?) changed everything. During a US tour, Shalom reconnected with his fiancée, Rose Hamilton, who was deeply involved in ministry work. A spiritual awakening followed, leading Shalom to embrace Christianity.

This newfound faith led to a new direction. In 2004, Shalom, now an ordained pastor, released his debut Gospel album, "Never Changing God." His music continued to evolve, with tracks like "Jesus Don't Stop At All" winning him the Caribbean Gospel Award.

Shalom hasn't forgotten his roots, though. Collaborations with reggae and Gospel artists like Glacia Robinson and Avalanche showcase his ability to bridge genres.

And the beat goes on! His latest single, "Mi Daddy Nuh Dead," is a testament to Shalom's ever-evolving sound and message.

So there you have it, folks! From reggae rebel to Gospel warrior, Shalom's story is an inspiration to us all. His music continues to bridge cultures and uplift spirits, reminding us that faith, love, and a killer reggae beat can truly move mountains!
