Sermon: Creeds, Confessions, & Catechisms: A Cost-Benefit Analysis
      I. Introduction       A. Discipleship in the Reformed tradition, specifically the Westminster tradition       B. Context of Reformation Day celebrations and the five solas:           1. Sola Dea Gloria (glory to God alone)           2. Solo Christo (through Christ alone)           3. Sola Gratia (by grace alone)           4. Sola Fide (through faith alone)           5. Sola Scriptura (scripture alone)   II. The Reformation Was More Than Five Points       A. The Reformers did not reduce Christianity to a handful of slogans       B. They wrote extensive confessions and catechisms addressing doctrine, piety, worship, and government       C. All four areas matter for sustainable Christianity  III. The biblical pattern of passing down sound teaching to the next generation   IV. Honesty in Theology       A. Confessions provide transparency about what a church believes       B. Allow people to know what they are agreeing to when joining a church       C. Prevent bait-and-switch tactics  V. Unity Through Shared Confession       A. Common theological foundation strengthens the church       B. Helps avoid being tossed about by every wind of doctrine VI. Substantial Doctrine for Turbulent Times       A. Need more than doctrinal minimalism to weather life's storms       B. Comprehensive understanding of God, humanity, sin, and salvation provides ballast       C. Time to experiment with "theological maximalism" VII. Doctrine Leads to Doxology       A. Deeper knowledge produces richer praise       B. Understanding justification, adoption, sanctification enriches worship       C. Knowledge pursued rightly leads to godliness, not pride VIII. Conclusion       A. Exhortation to dig into God's word using the tools of confessions and catechisms       B. These tools help Christians grow, promote unity, teach truth, and provide doctrine for deeper praise       C. Thanking God for salvation in Christ and asking for increased faith and usefulness

Sermon: A Psalm to Help Us Pray
“A Psalm to Help Us Pray” Psalm 20               November 2, 2025 Dr. Chad Van Dixhoorn  Sermon Application [file]   ----more---- Psalm 20:1 May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob protect you! [2] May he send you help from the sanctuary and give you support from Zion! [3] May he remember all your offerings and regard with favor your burnt sacrifices! Selah [4] May he grant you your heart's desire and fulfill all your plans! [5] May we shout for joy over your salvation, and in the name of our God set up our banners! May the Lord fulfill all your petitions! [6] Now I know that the Lord saves his anointed; he will answer him from his holy heaven with the saving might of his right hand. [7] Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. [8] They collapse and fall, but we rise and stand upright. [9] O Lord, save the king! May he answer us when we call.  I. The Nature of Psalm 20II. This Psalm Points Beyond David to ChristIII. Because Christ's Prayers Were Answered, Ours Will BeIV. How This Psalm Helps Us Pray

Sermon: Spirit-Led in a Hostile World
“Spirit-Led in a Hostile World” Matthew 10:16-25 October 26, 2025 Pastor Tony Felich  Sermon Application [file]   ----more---- Matthew 10:16 “Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. [17] Beware of men, for they will deliver you over to courts and flog you in their synagogues, [18] and you will be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, to bear witness before them and the Gentiles. [19] When they deliver you over, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour. [20] For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you. [21] Brother will deliver brother over to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death, [22] and you will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. [23] When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next, for truly, I say to you, you will not have gone through all the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes. [24] “A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. [25] It is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household.   God sends His disciples into a hostile world to bear witness to Christ, assuring them of His presence and the Spirit’s empowering guidance amid persecution.          • Hostility provides a platform for witness to Christ (16-18)         • The Holy Spirit empowers our witness (19-20)         • Eternal reward outweighs temporal suffering (21-22)         • Jesus is our model and motivation (23-25)

Sermon: The King’s Messengers
The King’s MessengersMatthew 10:1-15   October 19, 2025Pastor Tony Felich----more---- Matthew 9:37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; [38] therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” 10:1 And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction. [2] The names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; [3] Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; [4] Simon the Zealot, and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him. [5] These twelve Jesus sent out, instructing them, “Go nowhere among the Gentiles and enter no town of the Samaritans, [6] but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. [7] And proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ [8] Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay. [9] Acquire no gold or silver or copper for your belts, [10] no bag for your journey, or two tunics or sandals or a staff, for the laborer deserves his food. [11] And whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy in it and stay there until you depart. [12] As you enter the house, greet it. [13] And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it, but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. [14] And if anyone will not receive you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet when you leave that house or town. [15] Truly, I say to you, it will be more bearable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town. Jesus inaugurates the apostolic ministry as the foundation and forerunner of His Church’s mission. The disciples become Apostles Who were the Apostles? What was the first Apostolic mission? In what ways does the first Apostolic mission shape and inform the Church’s mission today?

Sermon: Timeless Leadership Advice
Timeless Leadership Advice Exodus 18  October 12, 2025 Pastor Tony Felich   ----more---- Exodus 18:1 Jethro, the priest of Midian, Moses’ father-in-law, heard of all that God had done for Moses and for Israel his people, how the LORD had brought Israel out of Egypt. [2] Now Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, had taken Zipporah, Moses’ wife, after he had sent her home, [3] along with her two sons. The name of the one was Gershom (for he said, “I have been a sojourner in a foreign land”), [4] and the name of the other, Eliezer (for he said, “The God of my father was my help, and delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh”). [5] Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, came with his sons and his wife to Moses in the wilderness where he was encamped at the mountain of God. [6] And when he sent word to Moses, “I, your father-in-law Jethro, am coming to you with your wife and her two sons with her,” [7] Moses went out to meet his father-in-law and bowed down and kissed him. And they asked each other of their welfare and went into the tent. [8] Then Moses told his father-in-law all that the LORD had done to Pharaoh and to the Egyptians for Israel’s sake, all the hardship that had come upon them in the way, and how the LORD had delivered them. [9] And Jethro rejoiced for all the good that the LORD had done to Israel, in that he had delivered them out of the hand of the Egyptians. [10] Jethro said, “Blessed be the LORD, who has delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians and out of the hand of Pharaoh and has delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians. [11] Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods, because in this affair they dealt arrogantly with the people.” [12] And Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, brought a burnt offering and sacrifices to God; and Aaron came with all the elders of Israel to eat bread with Moses’ father-in-law before God. [13] The next day Moses sat to judge the people, and the people stood around Moses from morning till evening. [14] When Moses’ father-in-law saw all that he was doing for the people, he said, “What is this that you are doing for the people? Why do you sit alone, and all the people stand around you from morning till evening?” [15] And Moses said to his father-in-law, “Because the people come to me to inquire of God; [16] when they have a dispute, they come to me and I decide between one person and another, and I make them know the statutes of God and his laws.” [17] Moses’ father-in-law said to him, “What you are doing is not good. [18] You and the people with you will certainly wear yourselves out, for the thing is too heavy for you. You are not able to do it alone. [19] Now obey my voice; I will give you advice, and God be with you! You shall represent the people before God and bring their cases to God, [20] and you shall warn them about the statutes and the laws, and make them know the way in which they must walk and what they must do. [21] Moreover, look for able men from all the people, men who fear God, who are trustworthy and hate a bribe, and place such men over the people as chiefs of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties, and of tens. [22] And let them judge the people at all times. Every great matter they shall bring to you, but any small matter they shall decide themselves. So it will be easier for you, and they will bear the burden with you. [23] If you do this, God will direct you, you will be able to endure, and all this people also will go to their place in peace.” [24] So Moses listened to the voice of his father-in-law and did all that he had said. [25] Moses chose able men out of all Israel and made them heads over the people, chiefs of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties, and of tens. [26] And they judged the people at all times. Any hard case they brought to Moses, but any small matter they decided themselves. [27] Then Moses let his father-in-law depart, and he went away to his own country.      Effective spiritual leadership involves delegation and shared responsi

Sermon: The True Gospel
“The True Gospel” Colossians 1:3-8                                                               October 12, 2025 Pastor Nathan Currey  Sermon Application [file]    ----more---- Colossians 1:3 We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, 4 since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love that you have for all the saints, 5 because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. Of this you have heard before in the word of the truth, the gospel, 6 which has come to you, as indeed in the whole world it is bearing fruit and increasing—as it also does among you, since the day you heard it and understood the grace of God in truth, 7 just as you learned it from Epaphras our beloved fellow servant. He is a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf 8 and has made known to us your love in the Spirit.   When we hear and understand the gospel of true grace God turns our world upside down.           I.  What exactly is the true gospel?      II.  How does it change us?     III.  How does it impact the world?

Sermon: The King of Compassion
“The King of Compassion” Matthew 9:18-38 October 5, 2025 Pastor Tony Felich  Sermon Application [file]   ----more---- Matthew 9:18 While he was saying these things to them, behold, a ruler came in and knelt before him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live.” [19] And Jesus rose and followed him, with his disciples. [20] And behold, a woman who had suffered from a discharge of blood for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment, [21] for she said to herself, “If I only touch his garment, I will be made well.” [22] Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, “Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And instantly the woman was made well. [23] And when Jesus came to the ruler’s house and saw the flute players and the crowd making a commotion, [24] he said, “Go away, for the girl is not dead but sleeping.” And they laughed at him. [25] But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose. [26] And the report of this went through all that district. [27] And as Jesus passed on from there, two blind men followed him, crying aloud, “Have mercy on us, Son of David.” [28] When he entered the house, the blind men came to him, and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to him, “Yes, Lord.” [29] Then he touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be done to you.” [30] And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them, “See that no one knows about it.” [31] But they went away and spread his fame through all that district. [32] As they were going away, behold, a demon-oppressed man who was mute was brought to him. [33] And when the demon had been cast out, the mute man spoke. And the crowds marveled, saying, “Never was anything like this seen in Israel.” [34] But the Pharisees said, “He casts out demons by the prince of demons.” [35] And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. [36] When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. [37] Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; [38] therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”   Our Messiah King responds to human needs with divine compassion — and He calls His followers to show that same compassion.          • Compassion for the grief stricken (18-25)         • Mercy for the suffering (26-31)         • Pity on the spiritually oppressed (32-34)         • Care for bodies and souls (35-36)         • Moved by the magnitude of the need (37-38)

Sermon: The Lord is My Banner
“The Lord is My Banner” Exodus 17:8-16  September 28, 2025 Pastor Tony Felich  ----more---- Exodus 17:8 Then Amalek came and fought with Israel at Rephidim. [9] So Moses said to Joshua, “Choose for us men, and go out and fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the staff of God in my hand.” [10] So Joshua did as Moses told him, and fought with Amalek, while Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.  [11] Whenever Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed, and whenever he lowered his hand, Amalek prevailed. [12] But Moses ’hands grew weary, so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it, while Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side. So his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. [13] And Joshua overwhelmed Amalek and his people with the sword. [14] Then the LORD said to Moses, “Write this as a memorial in a book and recite it in the ears of Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven.” [15] And Moses built an altar and called the name of it, The LORD Is My Banner, [16] saying, “A hand upon the throne of the LORD! The LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation. All battles, in the end, are fought on a spiritual level    • Christians will face constant battles    • Prayer is our first move    • We will need each other    • Acknowledging God during the battle    • Remembering God after the battle

Sermon: The Weight of Glory
“The Weight of Glory” Daniel 5 September 28, 2025 Pastor John Choi  Sermon Application [file]   ----more---- Daniel 5:22 And you his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, though you knew all this, [23] but you have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven. And the vessels of his house have been brought in before you, and you and your lords, your wives, and your concubines have drunk wine from them. And you have praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which do not see or hear or know, but the God in whose hand is your breath, and whose are all your ways, you have not honored. [24] “Then from his presence the hand was sent, and this writing was inscribed. [25] And this is the writing that was inscribed: Mene, Mene, Tekel, and Parsin. [26] This is the interpretation of the matter: Mene, God has numbered the days of your kingdom and brought it to an end; [27] Tekel, you have been weighed in the balances and found wanting; [28] Peres, your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians.” [29] Then Belshazzar gave the command, and Daniel was clothed with purple, a chain of gold was put around his neck, and a proclamation was made about him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom. [30] That very night Belshazzar the Chaldean king was killed. [31] And Darius the Mede received the kingdom, being about sixty-two years old.     True glory is not achieved by self-effort but rather the gracious gift of God to those who walk in humility before Him.           1.  Where is Glory? (1-16)         2.  What is Glory? (17-23)         3.  The Weight of Glory (24-31)

Psalm 94:17 If the LORD had not been my help, my soul would soon have lived in the land of silence. [18] When I thought, “My foot slips,” your steadfast love, O LORD, held me up. Sermon: Of Fasting and Feasting
“Of Fasting and Feasting” Matthew 9:14-17 September 21, 2025 Pastor Tony Felich   Sermon Application [file]   ----more---- Matthew 9:14 Then the disciples of John came to him, saying, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?” [15] And Jesus said to them, “Can the wedding guests mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast. [16] No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch tears away from the garment, and a worse tear is made. [17] Neither is new wine put into old wineskins. If it is, the skins burst and the wine is spilled and the skins are destroyed. But new wine is put into fresh wineskins, and so both are preserved.”   We must guard against letting our religious practices or traditions overshadow Christ Himself.           • Clarification about the place of religious practices (14-15)           • Parables to illustrate (16-17)           • Lessons for today

Sermon: Warning About Ritualism
Warning About RitualismMatthew 9:9-13September 14, 2025Pastor Tony Felich----more---- Matthew 9:9 As Jesus passed on from there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he rose and followed him. [10] And as Jesus reclined at table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and were reclining with Jesus and his disciples. [11] And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” [12] But when he heard it, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. [13] Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.” Hosea 6:6 For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings. Humility about our sin and need for Christ guards against falling into the trap of self-righteous ritualism. Sick & Needy vs Proud & Self Righteous (9-11) Why did Jesus come?
