Grey skies but great action. Not even a heavy downpour in the Swiss mountains could halt the progress of the 2010 Cliff Diving World Series as Gary Hunt got back to his best to win for the fourth time in five and build an almost unassailable Series lead. Hunt leads closest rival Orlando Duque by 19 points with just one stop to go.

The athlete has just nailed his dive, entering the water at 90km/h, and is now receiving the cheers and adulation of the spectators. Fear, relief and a tremendous rush of adrenaline – a very passionate and emotional moment for the high diver as well as the audience. Besides all this, five men’s attention is focused exclusively on what is happening during the 26 metres from take-off to landing. Objectivity and cliff diving experience are integral to fair and professional judging.

In front of more than 40,000 people a mistake from Series leader Gary Hunt, who was still practicing a new dive, was all the Russian needed to grab victory and reduce the gap on his rival.

For the 2nd stop of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series 2010 the world’s best 12 high divers travel to the most remote and special venue – the mystical holes on the northern Yucatán Peninsula. La Quebrada in Acapulco has been famous for cliff diving since 1934 and was location for Hollywood movies with Elvis Presley, but modern competitive cliff diving at the highest sportive level will be presented from the 27m platform on Cenote Ik Kil. 

British diver Gary Hunt earned his second consecutive win in the Red Bull Cliff Diving Series 2010 by performing The Triple Quad - which was exclusively perceived for cliff diving and invented by the Southampton based athlete - in the exotic surroundings of the Cenote Ik Kil, probably one of the most spectacular of the mystical sinkholes in the northern Yucatán Peninsula.

The event resulted in a victory for British diver Gary Hunt, who was awarded three tens for his stunning last dive and finished ahead of nine times world champion Orlando Duque. Gary broke records last year by performing the most difficult dive ever attempted, making history for this unique sport, and finished second to Orlando at the end of the series. His victory at La Rochelle in Season II of this competition sets the standard for this year's series, and it's yet to be seen if Gary will take on the champion title from Orlando for the first time at the final in Hawaii on 12th September.
