In this episode, I share something new and personal: I’ve decided to intentionally gain 10–15 pounds as an experiment. Not because I’m underweight, not for aesthetics, but out of curiosity — to see how my body responds when I give it more.
As a fully recovered recovery coach at a healthy weight, and someone who is immunocompromised with Lyme disease, I want to know what this means for my energy, my hormones, and my overall health.
I talk about:

People gain weight at different rates in recovery, but generally, it can happen a lot more quickly than you would ‘normally’ gain weight. At first, you may gain more weight than you’d expect based on your caloric intake, which may make you feel like your body is somehow broken. But in reality, it’s a sign of your body functioning. Are you constantly thinking about food? Are you eating your meals while thinking about your next snack? Do you always want food that you see? If you're suffering from an eating disorder, chances are: you do. And if you do, you may think you're addicted to food. In reality, however, food deprivation, even if it is 'only' mental food deprivation, can cause all of these symptoms. You're not addicted: you're deprived. In this week's episode we discuss how this constant thinking about food can occur as a result of deprivation, and how recovery and allowing yourself all food won't make this worse but will actually help.
