Ep.26 Your Story Matters: How Understanding Your Past Can Transform Your Present with Blake Roberts

Bridgett Blood talks with Blake Roberts all about the importance of understanding your story.

Blake is a therapist who owns a private practice in the Nashville area where he helps clients overcome anxiety, be more present, and foster healthy relationships. He became a therapist by way of engaging the depths of his own story through counseling and recovery. Blake is also a photographer, entrepreneur, and writer. More importantly, he’s a husband and a new dad.

In this episode we discuss:

  • Coming alive and connecting to your story
  • Having self-compassion toward the parts of us we hate
  • Emotional enmeshment  with a parent
  • How to know if we are reacting to something that is happening in the present or our past?
  • How becoming a parent can surface pain you experienced with your own mom or dad.
  • We all carry mixed motives (and that’s okay)
