Sydney Peterson – It’s time to see adaptive athletes as athletes.

This week we’re joined by adaptive athlete and nutrition coach Sydney Peterson, who’s redefining what strength and performance look like.

After watching her take on the Hyrox World Champs in Chicago, we knew we had to sit down with her.

In this episode, Sydney shares what it’s like to compete in the first season of the Hyrox Adaptive Invitational, her training approach while living with cerebral palsy, and the mental and physical growth that’s come along the way — including her first strict ring muscle-up (yep, you read that right 💪).  A crossfitter at heart, Sydney loves a challenge!

We talk about:

  • Pushing past expectations and redefining what’s possible
  • The evolution of the adaptive Hyrox category
  • Strength, resilience, and showing up for yourself
  • Coaching, fuelling, and celebrating your own wins

Sydney’s story is powerful, real, and genuinely inspiring. Whether you’re an athlete, coach, or just need a reminder of what’s possible, this one’s for you.

Dr Stacy Sims - Hybrid Training as a Female Athlete

In this episode, we’re joined by the one and only Dr. Stacy Sims—researcher, author, scientist, and leading expert on female physiology and training. This was a real pinch-me moment for us! We’ve followed Stacy for years, read her books, taken her courses, and watched her TED Talks—so having her as our very first guest on Atalanta is an absolute dream.

Our visions are aligned as Stacy’s mission is to help girls and women understand their unique physiology and to be empowered as active and confident females. Since science guiding women’s health and performance has been incomplete or based on male physiology, Stacy is leading the way to rewrite the path and she is doing an incredible job!

Stacy competed in her first Hyrox in Auckland, and we kick things off chatting about that experience before diving into all the gold: hybrid training and fuelling strategies for women, training with your cycle, supplements, RED-S, returning to training postpartum, and so much more.

This episode is a MUST listen for every female athlete!

Sarah Holden - The impact of an invisible injury and the journey back to the competition floor!

Sarah Holden is an athlete, mother and inspiration to so many - it was an absolute pleasure to talk to her and we know you will love this episode!

We dive into Sarahs background, her love for crossfit and if she's fallen in love with running since Hyrox!

Sarah opened up about her journey since discovering she had multiple blood clots in both lungs and heart strain. After pulling out of a Hyrox race in Milan thinking she was having a panic attack, to later find out it was a pulmonary embolism and had it been left untreated any longer she would have died is absolutely terrifying! We talk about how this has changed her outlook on life, how mentally it has affected her and what it has been like to get back to training and walk out onto that competition floor again.

We also discuss training as a mum, juggling it all and the influence you have on your children. We really do cover it all in this episode!!

A truly inspirational conversation, Sarah is raising awareness of Pulmonary Embolisms and highlights that you never know what someone is going through, life is short, make the most of it and surround yourself with love and support.

Maria Fecik - LCQ, Miami Pro Doubles & What it really takes to compete in the Elite 15!

This episode is a very honest and open conversation following the Barcelona LCQ where unfortunately Maria didn't manage to secure her spot in the Elite 15 at World Champs. We also delve into more about Marias background and what she's changed in her training moving from endurance to Hyrox.
