Mark 1:35-45
As we finish the first chapter of Mark’s gospel this week, we will dwell on the mercy of God. As we sing together, we will declare the following things about God’s mercy:
1. We would be lost without God’s mercy: Just as I am, I would be lost, but mercy and grace my freedom bought.
2. We see the fullness of mercy in Christ’s sacrifice: He left His Father’s throne above, so free, so infinite His grace; Emptied Himself of all but love, and bled for Adam’s helpless race. ‘Tis mercy all, immense and free; O praise my God, it reaches me.
3. The mercies of God are new every morning (Lamentations 3:23): Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness! Morning by morning new mercies I see.
4. We prayerfully look forward to the fulfillment of God’s mercy: God speed the day struggles will end, faultless we’ll gaze on Your glory; Then we will stand overwhelmed by the mercy of God.
5. The mercy of God is greater and stronger than our sin: Praise the Lord! His mercy is more. Stronger than darkness, new every morn; Our sins they are many, His mercy is more.
