55- Banu Isra’il Refuse To Enter Promised Land – In the Company of the Prophets – Shaykh Abdul-Rahim Reasat
After traveling through the desert with his people (Bani Isra’il), Musa eventually reaches the Promised Land. He orders his followers to fight the enemy and reclaim their land occupied by tyrannical people. But they stubbornly refuse. Their defiance was the last straw. Musa asks Allah Most High to separate Bani Isra’il from him and his brother. Allah Most High accepts his supplication and decrees that Bani Isra’il would wander in the desert for forty years.

After realizing their mistake, Banu Isra'il sought repentance and were commanded to take the lives of those who had worshiped the Calf. Musa was commanded to choose seventy men to represent them all in turning back to Allah and renewing their pledge. Despite being the best of their tribe, these people were rebellious before Allah. Only upon being threatened with a great calamity, did they finally submit.

Allah commanded Musa to meet with Him for forty days as Harun was left to watch over Bani Isra'il. At the meeting, Musa asked Allah to reveal Himself. Allah said he wouldn't see Him, and then manifested Himself to a mountain, destroying it, to show He could not be seen. The Torah was then revealed to Musa.

They seemed to have forgotten all the favors and guidance Allah had bestowed upon them and even asked for an idol to worship.

The signs manifested before him were too many to ignore without consequence.
