Wax, Steris, & Wayne || A Mistborn Diagnosis || Cosmere Mental Health

Waxillium Ladrian and Wayne (Who has a last name he could use if he wanted to, but last names are in flux in the second era of Mistborn because they were not something the Skaa used in the first era.)

These are the two main characters of the Mistborn Era 2 series by Brandon Sanderson, and we LOVE them! They are an amazing duo and have some incredible adventures throughout the books! Join us as we explore these characters and hopefully encourage you too!

Defiance - A Conversation About the Book Skyward

Skyward is an amazing book by Brandon Sanderson that has an amazing take on the classic trope "a boy and his dragon." We also love how it feels like a classic sci-fi novel! Join us this week as we talk a little about Skyward and a lot about the theme of Defiance that comes up in this book and a lot of young adult novels.

Szeth-son-son-Vallano || A Stormlight Diagnosis || Cosmere Mental Health

WARNING: Serious spoilers for the Stormlight Archive and the Cosmere in this video as we discuss Szeth, Son-Son Velano, one of our favorite characters of Brandon Sanderson's making. Szeth is the Assassin in White, and one of the most consistent characters in the story, which compared to a story that constantly flips itself over makes us hate him one moment, and root for him another. Join us as we discuss this incredible character and where we think he will lead us in the books to come.

Shallan || A Stormlight Diagnosis || Cosmere Mental Health

Shallan Davar, of the Knights Radiant, in the Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson, is a redheaded, keen-minded, and determined woman. According to the Adverse Childhood Experiences, we believe that Shallan was exposed to 5-6 trauma categories, which is pretty severe. She struggles with the trauma of her youth, and we explore a little more about what that means for her, and how we can use her to encourage ourselves and our friends. Also, beware of spoilers for the Stormlight Archive throughout this episode.

Legion

Legion is an incredible trilogy written by Brandon Sanderson that explores three separate, yet connected, adventures of Stephen Leeds and his 48 aspects: hallucinations that are crazy. Now, Stephen Leeds isn't crazy, at least, that's what his therapist (who just happens to be an aspect) says.

About Our Worldsinger Character Studies, or Whatever We Decide to Call Them

You may be wondering: what the heck is this series and why didn't they come up with a better title for them? Well, we have an answer for the first question, but not the second. This series is an opportunity for us to explore Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere through the characters he has created. There is something unique about Brandon Sanderson's characters; they all have some sort of mental health aspect in their foundation. We spoke to him briefly about this subject and were thrilled with his attitude towards mental health struggles and wanted to explore them in a little more depth.

The Death of Superman

Okay, so we aren’t talking about the comic book “The Death of Superman” but we are talking about how we have been slowly killing off Superman, and all other heroes in our comic books. We have been taking superheroes off of pedestals and we want to know why! What is it that makes us fall in love with villains and make our heroes compromise on their virtues and become more like the villains they are fighting?
