It's no surprise that we begin with fashion as we talk about how Lyric earned the Emmy for Drive with Swizz Beatz, a Hulu docuseries that explores the art cars, oversized ATVs and car clubs that decorate Houston, Texas.

Having loved film and television from a young age, this Howard University grad talks about being back home in California after graduation and while leaving an appointment at a salon, seeing a film crew in action on Crenshaw Boulevard in Inglewood. She ended up getting hired on the spot as a set production assistant.

We talk about her love of the post-production space and why perseverance and optimism are very crucial attributes to hold tight to despite shifts in the industry. We get into what it means to have job insecurity and the side effects of gate-keeping.
