My friendships are so special to me, especially the childhood connections I formed that carried with me into my adulthood. I was a very complicated, adventurous, fast-paced child, I experienced life on a whole other level when I met my friends in middle school. I will never be ashamed of what I went through at the age of 12-13, that lost little girl was just trying to figure out who she really was, and as did my friends. Randall and Johnathon (John John) are two of many people who witnessed my growth from a young girl into a woman. While chilling with them on a Sunday, I decided to record one of our chill sessions where we reminisced on some of our 7th Grade (2008-2009) year memories at Bloomfield Middle School. No. Sometimes we can get lost in people pleasing and we forget that we have to put ourselves first. Set those boundaries, demand your respect, or cut them off, that goes for family, friends, and lovers. How are we going to pour into others when we have nothing left to give ourselves? HELL NO! Self-care and self-preservation is not selfish, it’s a must for survival out here. Take my friends words and advice and apply it to your life. You deserve better. Take back your light and energy. I’m going to be honest, my mind has been in overdrive. God decided this month would be the start of a new chapter for me. He hit me with a lot at once because he knew how strong of a woman and fighter I am. Tonight I am walking you guys through my August, or the beginning of my Due Season. Listening to Starlight helped me connect with Dave, in the song he’s having moments of realization, evaluation, preservation, and acceptance. The exact same motions I'm currently experiencing.
