I am submitting this comment because I am opposing this amendment in its current state and have concerns about whether these cuts are necessary. By submitting this comment, I hope that the government can provide pharmacists and the public justification behind the cuts. I would also like to promote a dialogue to discuss other viable solutions. When looking at the Ontario budget and relative health spending, the data shows that expenditure on medications to fund ODB is roughly the same in 2015 (4.9 billion) as it was in 2010 (4.8 billion). In addition, ODB is covering more beneficiaries and more medications that it did previously. A lot of my concerns are highlighted in an online podcast: https://soundcloud.com/User-890679010 – Episode-0-the-2017-ontario-pharmacy-cuts. If this amendment is not passed, it will allow pharmacies to better support the minimum wage increase, without impacting our staff and our patients.
