Coach Harvey Hyde likes how the USC offense progressed in the win over Northwestern
On this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back together talking about the Trojans taking care of business Friday night against Northwestern, winning 38-17 thanks to big nights by Jayden Maiava, King Miller and Makai Lemon plus the defense locking things down in the second half.
Coach Hyde likes what he saw from the offense, bouncing back after the struggles in Lincoln by Maiava and the passing game. Coach sees what Riley is doing on offense now and he feels he likes the path Riley is trying to navigate heading into the final stretch of the season. Maiava also showed a lot of fight and Coach likes what he is doing on and off the field as a leader of the team.
On the defensive side this is the second week in a row that coordinator D'Anton Lynn has made adjustments at halftime and tightened things up after the break, giving up just 3 points in each of the last two games.
They also talk about where USC is in the Big Ten hierarchy, where Coach thinks the Trojans talent level lines up and the conference looking into the fake punt that had quarterback Sam Huard wear the same number as the punter, helping to disguise the play.
