Peak Hour by Party Favorz
System Edition 2009 Volume 1 [Take 1]
I'm finally getting back to some normalcy around here, but still, have a long way to go.  I was itching to get back to mixing, so I stopped everything else to get this first mix up for the year.  I plan on diving in this Saturday and Sunday to get everything finished up, even if it means pulling an all-nighter.
Frankly, I can't stand to be disorganized, so this will be my primary objective after tomorrow.  Fortunately, I won some tickets to "Shut Up, Sweet Charlotte" at the "14th Street Playhouse" for Rick and I, so Friday I plan on just chilling and enjoying myself.  I think we'll head over to "Joe's on Juniper" afterward for burgers and some beer.  Should be a nice evening.
As for the mix, the System Edition is pretty much what I'm feeling this time of year.  Sometimes deep and reflective while other times energized and rambunctious.  Not having too much time to scout around the different sites, I pulled everything on this mix from Beatport.
You'll notice a variety of styles from Deep, Tech, Minimal, Electro, Techno and Progressive House all thrown into a blender and poured out into a smooth confection.  Speaking of Beatport, if you haven't been over there in a while, you should really check them out.  They have completely revamped the site for a richer experience, with smoother navigation and I can now link back to each song individually.  I gotta give these guys credit; they have done an outstanding job in putting this together.  Frankly, I think they've set the bar for other online music services to emulate.  Well done.
If you're looking for one of my mainstream prog mixes, this isn't it.  I'm guessing after WMC Miami in late March, there will be plenty of it around and I'll most likely get back to that in May or so.  I don't plan another System mix until March where I'll dig even deeper into the mix.
I was checking out Stompy, and they really have their own thing going on as far as underground house music.  Intrigued with what I was hearing, I expect to be pulling a lot from there as well as some of the kick-ass leftovers that didn't make the cut for this mix.  This is a concept I'm not ready to give up on and it should be very interesting to hear the end result.
Between these two mixes, you'll notice a lot of familiar samples being used.  Frankly, I'm all for it.  For me, I like to play "name that beat" when listening to fresh new tunes that utilize a beat or lyric from a classic tune.  There's two back to back on this first mix that uses the same sample, albeit, in different ways, that is still driving me crazy.  For the life of me, I can't figure out where it was taken from, even though it is all too familiar.  Listen to track 11 and 12 and see if you can figure it out.
As the weekend nears, the weather appears to be more cooperative.  Though it's still bone-chilling at night, the daytime is cool and sunny with clear blue skies.  Just enough to keep a smile on my face.  I'll be back tomorrow with the second installment, until then...ENJOY!

Peak Hour by Party Favorz
Deep Edition 2008 Volume 11 [Take 2]
As promised, I've got the second installment of the Deep Edition v11 ready for delivery.  Whereas the first mix was tailor-made for the club, this mix takes a more laid back approach to the progressive sound.  It's kind of a chill mix, but not really.  There's definitely some slammin' tunes here, but not necessarily anything you would drop at 4 am in the morning unless you want to be pelted with beer cans...LOL.  Of course, it was intentional to separate the two different approaches out.  This way, after a long night of partying, you can go back and zone out using this mix as your backdrop.
Keeping up the pace, I'll be back Sunday with the next House Edition followed on Tuesday with the final Electro-Funk mix.  I know, I know everyone is waiting for the Holiday Edition and I promise it's coming soon.  I'm just holding out to see if I can get my hands on some new Whitney or Deborah...hopefully the gods will shine their light on Party Favorz and make it happen.  If not, I've got a lot of great stuff for that mix anyway.  In the meantime, have a great weekend and as always...ENJOY!

Peak Hour by Party Favorz
Deep Edition 2008 Volume 11 [Take 1]
We now resume our regularly scheduled programming...LOL!  I gotta tell ya, November has been one fracking-crazy ass month.  From Halloween, my birthday, the elections, protesting "No on Prop 8" and trying to get all of my doctor appointments, tests, etc. scheduled before I lose my health insurance at the end of the month has been no easy task.  I'm pleased to say that I got it ALL done!  That in and of itself is a miracle.  Then, there are the mixes, and boy oh boy have I got a banger for you guys!  Originally, I started out wanting to make a final electro-funk mix for the year.
That's now evolved into three separate mixes with the same cover art (in different colors) for deep, house, and electro.  I was sitting on too much good stuff to let it go to waste.  In fact, as I dug deeper, I ended up going WAY over my music budget for the month.  Consider this a gift, because that won't happen again.  What I've decided to do is stagger the releases over the next couple of weeks.  For instance, today you get deep take 1, Monday will be house take 1 and Wednesday electro-funk take 1 followed by take 2 every other day after.  The fact is, these mixes are long, so this allows you to digest your favorite before the next installment.  That is unless you're one of those that dig everything I post, in which case, you've got your work cut out for you.
After I get these mixes up over the next couple of weeks, I'll be working on the Holiday Edition and then the year-end edition.  I'm trying to put up a forum for everyone (that something, something I had promised) but that's going to take a little longer than anticipated.  I'm also now on Facebook and you are welcome to join me there by going to my profile and clicking on the link.
So sit back and relax, 'cause this is one seriously phatt mix for all you prog-heads.  I'll be back on Monday with the next installment of the House Edition (which ROCKS!).  I hope everyone enjoys what's left of your holiday/weekend until the next time...ENJOY!

Deep Edition 2008 Volume 10 [Take 4]

I'm serving up the final installment of the Deep Edition v10, a mix that got way out of control as far as I'm concerned.  It's not that the music isn't any good, but I really need to learn how to start editing myself...LOL.  If I had to rate this overall series, I'd probably give it a B+ taking off points for being bloated if not overindulgent.  At least now I can start focusing on the next House Edition which will be a serious departure from these progressive tunes.  I already see some issues regarding length there, but I'll do my best to keep it down to two mixes, each within a reasoned timeframe.  It's not that I can't do it, it's just that sometimes I kinda let the music take me away; can you say "ground control to Major Tom"?  That being said, Party Favorz wants to know what you think.  Was this overindulgent on my part, was it just right or did it flat out suck?  Leave me your thoughts, I promise not to take offense...well maybe...LOL.
Tomorrow, I have the next installment of the guest DJ series featuring DJ Mikey Cee from down under.  After previewing his mixes, I can honestly say he doesn't disappoint.  For now, just sit back and relax...and as always, ENJOY!

Deep Edition 2008 Volume 10 [Take 3]

As promised, I've got the third installment of this series for you guys (and gals).  Unlike its predecessors, this mix is darker and moodier and less commercial.  That is until you get to the last song, Morgan Page's latest offering which is more mainstream prog.  I'll be back tomorrow with the final installment and then I can move on to the next House Edition which will be a definite change of mood.
I see that our subscriptions have gone up considerably ever since I joined the Widgetbox LGBT community.  I want to welcome all of the newbies.  Just so you know, the Deep series is not for everyone (particularly in the U.S.).  Stick around because there's always something for everyone.
I hope everyone has a great work week...Enjoy!

Peak Hour by Party Favorz
Deep Edition 2008 Volume 10 [Take 2]

Sorry for the delay in getting this out today.  I've been bogged down with router issues and on the phone with Linksys pretty much all morning.  Then, my mom calls and she's having computer problems.  Since she's in Texas and I'm in Georgia, I usually just log into her computer and fix whatever needs fixing.  This time, her monitor is out.  After troubleshooting with her over the phone, I came to the conclusion she needs a new monitor.  Of course, she decided it would be best to get a newer and faster computer...LOL.  All she needed was an excuse to take it to my dad (even if her CPU was fine, he doesn't know anything about computers).
Anyway, I can use my employee discount from Dell and pick out a really sweet deal for her.  I called a buddy of mine back home who's in IT, and he agreed to go over and set it up for her and transfer all of her files at no charge.  At least, that will save me a lot of time on the phone with her.  I went ahead and got her the 4 year extended warranty so I can now just refer her to Dell when she has a problem...LOL.  I built my computer about 2 1/2 years ago and was thinking about swapping the motherboard and processor out this next month.  However, looking at Dell and the current prices with my discount, I could pick up what I want for about the same price with an extended warranty...so I'm thinking what the heck.  My car is all taken care of and I do love new stuff like computers and stereo equipment.  I don't know, sometimes I just can't help myself.  As you can probably guess, next to house music and mixing, gadgets are my thing.  I definitely get on a high when I buy something new to play and tinker around with.
Anyway, I finally got this post put together for your listening pleasure and will try to have the third installment up early tomorrow so I can get back on the phone with Linksys and troubleshoot with their "expert" or so I'm told.  In keeping with Take 1, this mix is ultra-long.  Hey, who was it that said: "excess is best".  Okay, that may not always be true, but in this case, I think it applies.  I also got a notice that I received another donation from IK in the UK.  Thank you very much, and folks keep 'em coming.  Like I said, I'll be in the clear next month so every little bit helps.  I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend and I'll be back tomorrow with Take 3.  Until then...ENJOY!

Peak Hour by Party Favorz
Deep Edition 2008 Volume 10 [Take 1]

It's been one heck of a week that had me running around like a chicken with my head cut off.  After having my car engine replaced (thank God for that 100,000 mile warranty) and replacing my brakes, I finally got all new tires and my car runs like new.  Not that anyone gives a rat's ass, but for me that's great...LOL!  Frankly, I had finished these mixes up about 2 weeks ago and decided to go back yesterday and start going through them.  I went back to Beatport and purchased four more songs and dropped them in where appropriate.  For the most part, this turned out to be a massive four set mix that was pretty much done in one take (with the exception of the new additions).  Only one song got the edit treatment on Take 4, because it clocked in at 11:00, which is way too long.  Finding it difficult to edit myself this go around, I stopped each mix when I encountered a roadblock; meaning when I couldn't find a way to mix out of the last song or just didn't want to bother.  Regardless, this entire four set is comprised of deep, progressive and tech house with a good deal of mainstream prog in the mix.  Figuring that no one was feeling my last Deep Edition, I decided to give the people what they want.  Considering the majority of these mixes were all completed in one take, I have to say I kicked some serious ass!  Not to pat myself on the back or anything, but yeah, it's that good.  Sometimes, my best work is done without second guessing myself and this would be a perfect example.
From now until the end of the month, it's going to be busy, busy, busy!  I'll be releasing one mix a day through Tuesday of this series and hope to have my next House Edition up by the next weekend.  For those of you that are big fans of my Beach House series that I put out in July, you'll be pleased to know that this mix follows in that same vein.  It's all about frivolous, fun and funky house...yeah baby!  After that, I'll be upping my Halloween Edition which is shaping up quite nicely.  I put that one off because I'm waiting on the new Britney, Debby Holiday, Deborah Cox and Madonna tunes to drop.  If they don't, they'll be pushed out to my Holiday Edition in December.  In addition to all this goodness, I have about three more guest DJ sets I'll be showcasing in the next few weeks.  So, we gotta a lot in store for you guys.  From progressive, electro, funky and mainstream, there will be something for everyone and enough to make your ears bleed.
Financially, I'll be out of the woods next month, so in the meantime, if you could find it in your heart to make a donation to help cover my Podbean charges by the end of the month, that would be greatly appreciated.  I do want to thank DB for his recent $20 donation, that was very generous.  I hope everyone has a great weekend and be sure to check back each day for the next take on this series.  In the meantime, sit back and listen to the sounds of the underground and as always...ENJOY!

Deep Edition 2008 Volume 7 [Take 2]

The first day of Autumn is almost here, and the weather in the ATL is certainly fitting.  We finally got some sun yesterday, so it was only fair for me to get out and fart around the city.  Sorry, but the day was too nice to stay at home and work on the next post.  Besides, I had to get some car work done...LOL.  Actually, I wish I had a laptop so I could get two things done at once.  If I'm going to be sitting around the dealership for a couple of hours, might as well take advantage of the wasted time.  Their coffee and stale donuts don't exactly carry a person for very long.  Oh well, it's finally here and ready for your listening pleasure.  Just remember, this take contains more gray than color, so it is definitely deeper and darker than its predecessor.
I'll be finishing up the cover art for our next guest, DJ Steve Henderson out of Chicago.  This guy has a resume that puts most to shame, so I'm really excited about what he's going to drop on us.  I hope everyone has a fabo weekend and until the next time...ENJOY!

Deep Edition 2008 Volume 7 [Take 1]

Those of you that follow this edition may be asking yourself...volume 7?  Thanks to our good friend Klaus a.k.a. DJ K-Os who pointed out that I skipped volume 7 and went straight to 8 & 9, I decided to correct that.  Granted, it jumps out of place, but better late than never.  If you're looking for the more progressive version of the Deep series, this ain't it.  I decided it was time to go back to the dark side.  No, not the "Luke come over to the dark side" rather some deeper house music, which is what this series was originally intended to be.  I'm thinking that I may rename all of the series in 2009.  For instance, Electro-Funk will be called the 'BPM Edition', Progressive the "System Edition', Classix the 'Chrome Edition', Deep the 'Chill Edition' and the circuit mixes will remain the same.  I haven't come up with a name for the 'House Edition' yet only because all of the aforementioned represent a dance station on XM Satellite radio and there isn't one for just good ole house music.  This is tentative, so don't hold me to it.  However, if you like the idea, let me know.
Rather than go all doom and gloom on this mix, I purposely changed it up a bit.  The first mix has a lot more color with a few sprinkles of gray dropped into the mix, while the second mix is primarily gray tones with a few colorful spots to round it out.  When I say gray, I actually mean deep house and colorful is closer to good old fashioned soulful house.  As the days get cooler and darker (as it has been for several days around here) I don't want to send anyone (muchless myself) into an early holiday depression, so I thought I'd mix it up a bit in case the grayer tones of deep house start to bring you down.  Actually, I finished this up pretty quick last week and have been enjoying it since the weekend at home and in my car.  So, please give some feedback if you like the direction I took this time.
In other news, I want to thank everyone that responded to my call for 'guest DJs'.  I have to say, I was a bit shocked, if not overwhelmed.  What you can expect between now and the end of November are a variety of outstanding mixes by DJs all across the globe.  From the U.S., UK, Australia and Germany I pretty much have it covered.  Some of you are up and coming, others have been successfully working it for a long while now, others have their own radio show and another already has management, complete with headshots and a brand new album about to drop.  How cool is that?  All I can say is welcome to the Party Favorz family!  I will be more than happy to promote you and your work over the next couple of months.  At this time, I will have to decline any further requests to join as I'll be doubling down on the posts starting in October.  Don't worry, I've got something really big by the end of the year that I'll announce at a later date.  What I will say is that it will allow everyone to participate and share their mixes, their ideas, perspectives, tips and tricks.  Stay tuned.
In the meantime, just sit back and enjoy the sounds of the underground.  I'll be back tomorrow with Take 2 of this mix. Enjoy!

Peak Hour by Party Favorz
Deep Edition 2008 Volume 9 [Take 2]
Welcome to the weekend wrap-up as I submit to you the final installment of the Deep series.  One of the things I enjoy most about making this edition is the ability to throw in whatever I'm feeling at any given moment.  Some of the past Deep Editions were a more soulful deep house, while others were eclectic falling anywhere between funk, acid jazz, deep house, tech house, and/or soulful.
Clearly, this series has been more on the progressive side of the coin.  This mix starts out hitting hard before lowering the tempo a bit and keeping the overall feel somewhere in the middle.  I managed to combine progressive, tech, electro house, and even a trance tune for good measure.  Overall, I'm very pleased with the end result and hope you are too.
Next week is Madonna's 50th birthday, and there will be a slew of celebrations from coast to coast and worldwide.  In honor of this milestone in her life, I put together a megamix showcasing various music and styles throughout her 25 years in the industry.  I know it's all been done before (even by me) but I plan to take it in directions that no one ever has.  At least not that I ever heard in the countless Madonna mixes all over the Internet.  So get prepared, because the party is just getting started.
I hope everyone has a great weekend and as always...ENJOY!

Deep Edition 2008 Volume 9 [Take 1]
We're halfway through the summer deep series, and it feels like I'm just getting started.  While I like all of these mixes for various reasons (usually mood), I have to say this mix really packs a punch with back-to-back top-notch tunes.  That's right, no HHH ½ filler here.  Oftentimes, the mixes are only as good as the song selection.
Granted, wading through 500+ songs and narrowing it down to a fraction of that amount is no easy task.  I typically don't spend much time previewing.  I'll drop in the song towards the beginning and then skip to the middle.  I hit the delete button if the song hasn't grabbed my attention by that point.  Yeah I know, I can be tough and may even be bypassing a gem, but it's a system that has served me well and this mix only proves that.
I'll be previewing the 4th and final volume this morning as I head out the door with my husband.  We've been reduced to a one-car family at the moment, so I take him to work out of town.  That's okay.  It gives me a chance to listen to the mixes before giving my final stamp of approval.  Based on preliminary previews, I do believe the final installment is equally HOT!
One last thing, If anyone hasn't figured it out yet, to download the mixes just hit 'play' on the mp3 player, and a 'download link' will appear just above the player.  Cool, huh?  Enjoy the last day before play, and I'll be back tomorrow to wrap this series up.  Until then...ENJOY!

Peak Hour by Party Favorz
Deep Edition 2008 Volume 8 [Take 1]
First of all, I want to make the iTunes folks aware that my new podcast address https://partyfavorz.podbean.com/feeds has now been accepted by iTunes and you will now be able to subscribe once again.  Remember, this is a different feed address from the last one and as such requires previous subscribers to go back and subscribe again.  I changed it so that everything would be consistent between my blog and my podcast.  I guess you could say it's all about branding.
Second, I want to welcome everyone to the eighth, yes #8 installment of the Deep Edition.  Geez, where has the year gone?  What was once the least of my mixes has now turned into the second most popular next to the Electro-Funk Edition.  While I use a varied style in the deep mixes, this one leans heavily towards progressive, tech, and house.  Because I haven't done one of these in well over two months, I must have had 500+ tunes to wade through.
I narrowed that down to 48 and then went back and added about nine more taken from Beatport's current top 25.  From that, you get a total of 56 kickass tunes spread over 4 mixes.  Each mix will clock in over the 80-minute mark I usually edit them down to.  Why?  I just won't have the time for the editing.  So if you're not using an mp3 player for the mixes and like to burn to CD, then it's time to start making a jukebox disc (mp3 CD) that can be played in most newer car stereos and DVD players.
I will be adding another mix each day through Friday.  So sit back and relax and enjoy the sounds of the underground.  I'll be back with another HOT mix tomorrow.

Deep Edition 2008 Volume 6 [Pt. 1 & 2]
Originally my intent was to put this mix out in early July, but I've been in a bit of a funk lately and decided I needed something to cheer me up.  Strange, because that kinda feeling usually only happens in the winter.  So I did two things to combat this: 1) I joined a gym and am feeling great.
I even convinced Rick to join with me, which was kinda fun watching him.  As someone that has never stepped foot in a gym, I thought I'd start him out slow and put him on the elliptical and selected their basic program.
While I'm going away at it, two minutes into his exercise he starts to feel the burn and quits.  Disappointed, I suggested the treadmill.  Well, that got about a five-minute run before he switched to the bike which got another five minutes...LOL.  Then he just stood around until I finished up about thirty minutes later.  Geez, I thought I was taking it easy on him.
Nevertheless, he's a trooper and has been going back with me.  As I slowly move back into the groove of things, I pushed out our leg exercises to Monday.  Watching him do squats and leg curls might be fun, but I promised him I'd go easy.  He has one week left on his trial membership, so we'll see what he decides.  2)  I needed some good summertime house to round out the equation and this group of songs that I had been compiling was just the ticket.  I knew what direction the next Deep Edition was going to go in and realized I had more than enough to make the mix.
So, I sat down and knocked this puppy out in two hours.  I'm glad I did because next to Cyndi Lauper's latest, this has been on heavy rotation in my house.  Far from the ice-cold renderings of the last three Deep Editions, this is all about summer.  Warm and airy, light and breezy on the soulful and jazzy tip, I do believe I achieved my goal.
I hope everyone enjoys this as much as I have.  If you looking for the more progressive stuff that's been making up the last several editions of this series, it ain't here.
Going forward, June will be all about Pride.  I'm making a total of four single mixes of which two are already complete.  Beginning this Friday, the first one will be released followed by a new Pride mix each subsequent Friday throughout the month.  Until then...Enjoy!

Deep Edition 2008 v5 [Pt. 1 & 2]

Sorry for the delay, but Comcast is up to no good again. Previously they had been throttling my uploads around an average of 55 kb/s, but are now limiting it around 5 kb/s.
Heck, with those kind of speeds, who needs cable when dial up is much faster? That's ok. I went ahead and switched to AT&T which I should have up and running no later than Tuesday. It has been nothing short of a nightmare with Comcast. Their commercials always talk about "how fast they are" and their service is "Comcastic" et. al. Since switching from DSL to cable, I can honestly testify that their service is purely "Comcraptic". Slow speeds, constant connection losses and now the throttling of my uploads to the point where it's impossible to get one of my podcasts' uploaded, is completely unacceptable.
Whether I'm uploading to Podbean, Flickr or Mozy (online storage), their service makes it impossible to get anything done without ripping out my hair. Oh wait, I just shaved it off this past weekend, so I guess a better analogy would be in order.
Regardless, you get my point. What's funny (or maybe not), I called in yesterday for my weekly bitchfest with their support department. As always, they check the lines from their end and "claim everything tests fine". If that's the case, then please explain to me why my Internet service went down for two hours yesterday evening, and then when it came back up, all was fine in Comcrapticland? Coincidence? I think not.
If you are experiencing this type of poor quality Internet experience with your ISP, click on the Comcast image on the left hand side and sign up to make your voice heard. Net neutrality is something that's been debated for a long time now, and stands a much better chance of passage now that the Democrats are in charge. Naturally, the ISP's are against it. Why you ask? Because companies like Comcast have oversold their capacity to the point of not being able to viably sustain their networks.
Meanwhile, they stifle competition in the areas they serve, ensuring their monopolistic ventures continue unquestioned and unabated with their already poor quality service. Consequently, they are devising ways to start charging customers for the amount of bandwidth they consume each month. I'm sorry, but the whole point of the Internet and faster connections was to allow people to be more productive while providing an overall better user experience. Unfortunately, it's having the opposite affect.
Those of you that access the Internet wirelessly through your cell phones, your next. At what point do we as citizens demand we get the service the ISP's promise (and that we pay for) but refuse to deliver? The time is now to speak up and let Congress know that you're "mad as hell and you're NOT going to take it anymore". Alright, I'll step down from my soapbox for now...on to the music!
As promised, Party Favorz is serving up another installment of the Deep Edition this week. This time around, the music leans heavily towards a more progressive and tech house sound. From Eric Prydz' now classic "Pjanoo" to Mark Knight's classic update of "Man With The Red Face" or House Music United's "Yes We Can" this is some serious electronica. Needless to say, this is NOT your parents house music.
Listen very closely, as the layer's continue to build one on top of the other like a stack of heaping pancakes. Before you know it, you'll be cooled down on side two with some whip cream and blueberry's. On the latter song, you'll notice HMU dropped in one of Barak Obama's inspirational speeches. While this is in no way an endorsement of his candidacy, the guy can sure give one heck of an inspiring totally prepared speech (sorry had to get that jab in).
Take advantage of these mixes, because as we start sliding into Summer, I won't be doing any of the Deep Editions for a while.

Deep Edition 2008 v4 [Pt. 1 & 2]
Well, so much for the projects I had planned.  It always seems that no matter what I try to arrange, my timing is always off.  That's okay because you guys benefit from my delays.  In fact, not only do you get my latest Deep Edition v4, tomorrow you get v5 as well!  Hey, it's a twofer, not too shabby.
While this mix is definitely more down the deep house path with a little tech house thrown in for good measure, tomorrow's update will be a combination of progressive house and tech house just to mix things up a bit.  Between both updates, you get the hottest and most current tunes in their respective genres.  Not a bad deal at all.
I'm pleased with the way things are going for the downloads.  Looks like we no longer have bandwidth concerns which make downloading less tedious.  It also looks like many of you jumped on the iTunes bandwagon as well.  I'm glad you like it.  Make sure you click the "subscribe" button in iTunes to ensure delivery of my podcasts.
Those of you who do not use iTunes can still be notified via email updates or your favorite reader (i.e. Yahoo!, Google, etc.)  So if you haven't done that yet, whatcha waitin' for?  Also, you may have noticed I'm playing around with the track listing format.  I'm providing a start time for each track that can later be used to split the files up for those of you more technically inclined.  Star ratings and reviews will return after my break.
I hope everyone is looking forward to the weekend like I am.  I'll be back tomorrow with one last update before I officially take a break.  Enjoy!

Peak Hour by Party Favorz
Deep Edition 2008 Volume 3 [Pt. 1 & 2]
Atmospheric, deep, dark, and moody would be the best way to describe this mix.  Granted, the title alone suggests that.  However, this time around I dug a little deeper and have made a firm transition into how the Deep Edition should sound.
After having just finished up last week's Progressive Edition, I made the decision that much of the slower-tempo progressive music overlaps with a lot of the deep house tunes.  To me, progressive should be more about the uptempo harder sounds of electronica, which could include tribal or even hard dance.  It's the slower songs that easily fit in with the deep tunes and add an overall different perspective.
For instance, while this mix is predominantly deep house, I managed to work in some progressive, tech-house, and minimal tunes.  Other times, I find myself mixing in some Acid-House and low-key funk or just straight-up soulful.  Going forward, I think all those elements will constitute my deep mixes in the future.  I'll leave the heavier stuff for the prog mixes.
I also want to let everyone know that I'll be adding another category in the near future.  I think a "House Edition" would be in order.  You know, all the stuff that doesn't make the deep, electro, funky, or prog mixes, will now have its own classification.  By doing that, I'll be better able to swap mixes out each month so as not to become stagnant and much less boring.  I'll try it out and see how it works.  Remember, I just started this site in November of last year, and it's still a work in progress.
As you can see, I've given the blog a whole new look and feel.  I got to thinking about when I was a kid and my mom worked at the Port of Brownsville.  She used to take me with her and I'd explore and play in the shipyards; that is until I broke my arm (what would be the first of many bodily accidents throughout my youth).  I remembered all the rusted anchors and steel beams laying around.
So I decided to go for something industrial and think I've achieved that.  It took several layers of pics to put this together in Photoshop.  The preliminary feedback I've received has been positive.  I was trying to make everything easier to read and navigate.
Also, please note that both download links will now be included at the top of the track listing.  I think there are still many people not realizing that most of the mixes include two volumes and are not scrolling down to get the second.  I also finally managed to fix the feed in my "Party Favorz" widget.  Now, each post will display the cover art in the widget.  So feel free to grab it and stick it on your blog, Facebook, MySpace, WordPress, or where ever you feel you need a party favor.  Just click on the bottom tab "get widget" and it will pretty much do it for you.
Looking at my numbers in the traffic/downloads and seeing how they are progressively increasing on this site, I have a pretty good idea as to what people are digging.  Clearly, the winners are the circuit and funky editions.
So just to let everyone know, my Spring Edition will be out in a couple of weeks, just in time for uh...well, spring.  I've already started work on the next installment of the Classix Edition, which I'm totally stoked about.  For now, just sit back and enjoy the sounds of the underground.
Have a great weekend!

Deep Edition 2007 Volume 4 [Remastered]
Before I go into the discussion about the Deep Edition 2007 v4, I would like to bring to everyone's attention that today is World AIDS Day. A disease that has devastated not only lives but families as well, all over the world.

I have lost several friends to this disease, including my brother in 1986. If you look to the right, just below the pod player, you will see an ad with the ultimate Diva, Annie Lennox. If you click on the link, you will be able to support her and the Treatment Action Organization in South Africa. You can buy a T-Shirt or purchase the download of her latest song "Sing" featuring a slew of artists including Madonna. If anything, purchase the kick-ass Moto/Blanco mix of the song, which you've no doubt heard if you've been anywhere near a club lately. Stay involved. Stay focused. Better yet, stay safe.

Enough preaching. Here's is the latest Deep Edition...and it rocks if I do say so myself. This will be perfect after those long cold days at work or after spending an entire day Christmas shopping at the mall. Grab yourself a glass of wine, smoke a joint and just chill-out and relax...that's the power of music. Oh yeah, don't be shocked by the inclusion of Dave Gahan on this mix...you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Also, I just finished up a MySpace page. You can check it out here. If anyone can explain how to rearrange the modules on my profile page, I'd be forever indebted : )

One last thing, Funky Edition 2007 v6 will be up tomorrow and the Holiday Edition 2007 will be up no later than Saturday, next week. Until then...Enjoy!

Peak Hour by Party Favorz
Deep Edition 2007 Volume 2 [Remastered]
Definitely more experimental. Mostly instrumental and at times a little bit off the beaten path. Personally, I love it, but my partner hates it. That being said, I guess it's not for everyone.

See whatcha think.
