Brought to you by Grenadian STEAM, this is a podcast chronicling the journeys of West Indian professionals navigating careers in STEAM, both at home and in the diaspora. By taking a deep dive through the individual journeys of these profesionals - discussing their failures, their successes and their moments of learning - we hope to expose interested listeners to the depth and wonder that is a career in STEAM. It is also our goal to make such conversations accessible to the larger community of students and rising professionals in Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

43. Crafting a New Lane & Building a Business with Passion, with Chrislyn Lashington
We talk about “doing something you love” for work all the time, but what does it really take to build a business based on your passions? Our guest on today’s episode is a brimming multi-passionate who knows a thing or two about it... Chrislyn Lashington is a Creative Entrepreneur from Grenada who has honed her many talents and skills within the sectors of entertainment, media, advertising, health and wellness. She is a TV Producer & Host, dance fitness instructor, event producer and the CEO of https://lashington.agency/, a marketing, communications and entertainment agency based in Grenada.  Chrislyn holds a Master’s of Public Health from St. George’s University where she later worked as a Bioethics Clinical Tutor for medical students and continues to support the graduate public health programme. Her experience in public relations, marketing and entertainment afforded success to entities like the Grenada Tourism Authority, Sandals Resorts, Flow, Power FM, the Grenada Broadcasting Network, HOMA, a property development company, and more recently a UNESCO-funded Intangible Cultural Heritage project.  Her lifelong passion for the creative and performing arts has led her to become a household name in Grenada for TV and radio hosting under the alias https://www.instagram.com/msy.chrissy/ (pronounced Missy Chrissy), dance fitness, and the production of Upstage TV Show, an entertainment show birthed during the global lockdown in 2020.  Chrislyn has also produced the annual Carnival Sunday fete BeachBum and launched Jab in Shape, a dance fitness programme inspired by Afro-Caribbean music and movement. In 2022, she further expanded the Upstage brand, presenting a carnival band that revitalised the Traditional Sailor Masquerade for Spicemas. She is currently a Director on the board of the Grenada National Museum; a Floor Member on the Executive of the Traditional Individual and Mas Bands Association (TIMBA) AND a volunteer at the Grenada Red Cross Society.  Chrislyn loves the beach and believes that dessert is the best part of every meal.  …we would have to agree ;) We hope you enjoy the journey on today's Pathway!
