Welcome to Advent, the season leading up to Christmas.
Advent comes from the Latin Adventus, meaning "arrival" or "coming." Traditionally, the season was one of waiting and longing expectantly for the coming Messiah. It is commemorated in songs like "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel" and "Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus." The season reminds us of the expectancy of Jesus' incarnation and comforts us as we look forward to his triumphant return!
Advent spans the four Sundays leading up to Christmas Day. The theme of week 1 is Hope.
