It’s here, our final episode of Carpooling with the Cullens. This week we talk CGI babies, dog boyfriends, and Service Forks. We ask the important questions, like, what is a clearing? Is it ok that Sue Clearwater moved in with Charlie Swann? Was the Free Solo climber kinda asking for it? And most importantly, who would see a movie called The Whistleblower’s Sisters? We had a great ride, thanks for the laughs and the tears, Cullens.
This week we’re closing out our Season 2 with a chat with the incredible Jono Flett. We talk King Charles, Ashley Bickerton, and everything in between. He’s an incredible editor, graphic designer, and all around cool guy. We thank him for flying across an ocean for us. Enjoy!
Vampire babies, humans drinking blood, syringes into the heart, crushed bed frames, Mormon agendas. Sounds like a horror movie. But in fact, it’s just Part 1 of Breaking Dawn, which is really just a high school gym teaching telling you, in the immortal words of Coach Carr from Mean Girls, “Don’t have sex, because you will get pregnant and die.” We had a good time.
This week we sit down to talk about Nancy Drew, Little Bear, growing up in a movie theatre, starting your own theatre troupe, Kids in the Hall, Los Angeles, and the best places to go in Roncy. We’re talking with the wonderful and talented Tracy Ryan. If you’ve ever heard Elliot apologize to Tracy during previous episodes, this would be that Tracy. Enjoy!
We're back this week with A.I. hot takes, more drama from the dog park, and a full analysis of Pedro Pascal and his turn at being Hollywood's newest heart throb. We answer some tough questions, such as: would you want to live 20 years into the apocalypse? Which celebrity deserves a comeback? And most importantly, does The Little Mermaid live action look good? Enjoy!
Uninhabitable BnB’s, fish themed parties, the Oscars, dreams, dogs- all this and more! This week we settle in with our guest host Shannon Tigert to talk about the Oscars and discuss the dreams we hope to one day fulfill, much like Ke Huy Quan, holding his Oscar and hugging Harrison Ford. Enjoy!
Men at war in the jungle- a story you've heard before. But not like this. If you, like us, were in your early preteens when Tropic Thunder came out, chances are you trekked to a theatre for a movie going experience unlike any other. Many were offended, many found joy and hilarity in the chaos of the movie, some made it 10 minutes in before walking out of the theatre. The only thing we can all agree on: the most offensive part of this movie was Justin Theroux's on set look (complete with fedora and soul patch).
Enjoy!
First is the worst, second is the best, third is the one with the CGI wolves, the vampires who vacation in Florida, the Italian government, the non-consensual smooching, the scorching charisma from Charlie Swann (and some might say, controversially) from the OG patriarch himself, Carlisle Cullen (king of the quiet bandage moment). All this and more, as we sit down with our special guest, Shannon Tigert, to discuss The Twilight Saga: Eclipse!
Are you allowed to use Covid as an excuse for backing out of plans? Cam on or cam off in a Zoom meeting? Are you allowed to gossip about someone crying at work? And most importantly, there are new rules for tipping! We had no idea. We are so grateful to the good people at New York Magazine, for providing the answers to questions we hadn’t even thought to ask. Part 1 was good, Part 2 is even better.
Thank god for New York Magazine and The Cut for their guide to social etiquette. Finally, our questions are answered: to lay a hand on the small of a back or not to lay a hand on the small of a back? Why must we "always wink"? Should the bill be politely fought over by both parties? It's the hot take you've been waiting for, not just for the New York elite.
From Finding Nemo, to living in Copenhagen, this week we take you through the most impactful moments of our lives. What shaped us? What inspired us? Does anyone else remember having to speak to their friends parents on the home landline and ask to speak to their friend? Does everyone still have the childhood home phone numbers of their friends memorized? Enjoy!
He’s back! This week we talk about the creative process, the music industry, fatherhood, skiing, and the importance of accountability. He taught us everything we know, so enjoy this (soon to annual?) conversation.
We’ve got vampires, we’ve got werewolves, we’ve got Harry Clearwater and the babe of the century Charlie Swann. It’s the story of Belly Swann, Ed Clarke, and wolf boy. Two star-crossed lovers who memorize Romeo and Juliet, decide to do some cliff jumping, and take a fun trip to Italy. Join us this week as we talk all things New Moon, and answer the question that defined a generation: team Edward or team Jacob?
He’s a creative director, a music producer, a filmmaker, a visionary, a father, and most importantly... the producer of this very podcast. This week we sit down to talk with the insanely talented Byron Wong to chat about his fear and optimism for the future, vulnerability, starting a cult, and his favourite spots in Toronto. We’ve been asking him to come on for 2 years and he finally gave in. Persistence pays off. Enjoy!
It’s a new year, and Parking Lot is celebrating with dogs and cats and resolutions. We talk New Year’s Eve parties, push up competitions, and the topic that’s near and dear to all our hearts: hydration. We’re drinking more water this year, who’s with us?
“And the men who hold high places, Must be the ones to start, To mold a new reality, Closer to the Heart.” And the three men we’re talking about today have ascended to very high places indeed, folks today we're taking a very special CANADIAN Iconic Detour into the Temples of Syrinx celebrating the legacy of… RUSH! We also talk about house party games with painful endings, the Harry & Meaghan Documentary, and a journey into the world of DIY furniture. Get those air drums ready and enjoy!
Special thanks to RUSH, we love you don’t sue us…

CLIPS
I Love You, Man / Paramount Pictures / DreamWorks Pictures
It’s been a wild year for the music industry. Some music legends have cancelled themselves publicly over and over again, some continue to tour the world after allegations of sexual assault, and some are just living their best lives, putting out albums after marrying the love of their life after 20 years. PKL is here to give you our Spotify wrapped stats- some of us have discovered new genres, new adventures, new languages. Some of us are listening to the same thing we have always listened to, and will always listen to. We had a good time, we know you will too.
What’s black and white and talks with a super cute British accent? Dalmatian puppies! This week we sit down to watch a childhood classic, 101 Dalmatians. We discuss the iconic villain of our time Cruella De-Vil, develop theories around Anita and her past with Cruella, and discover that the Amber alert system for missing children was really invented by British dogs in the 40’s. The most important lesson here is, he’s not your husband if he doesn’t have the same kind of dog as you.
This week we went to Chicago, Boston, but most exciting of all, the High Park off leash dog park. We talk Vermeer thieves, jumbo hot dogs, and Mr. Beef. Elise meets her brother, Elliot tours Gotham by boat, Maggie goes on a sister’s trip, Kate remains an only child. 100 episodes in the bag, we’re excited for the next 100. Thanks for listening and enjoy!
New apartments, new digital subscriptions, new outlooks, it's all changing over here at PKL. This week we look into all the changes we're experiencing and how we deal with change and uncertainty. It's not easy, but at least we're able to podcast about it. Enjoy!
