What does it take to kayak the entire Amazon River — from its tiny source in the Andes to its wild mouth at the Atlantic Ocean? For Darcy Gaechter, it took relentless determination, razor-sharp skill, and an unshakable belief in herself.
In this episode , we tell the story of the first woman to kayak the Amazon from source to sea. Over 4,300 miles of untamed river, Darcy faced whitewater chaos, catfish infested waters (maybe), dangerous encounters with drug traffickers, and the mental toll of a journey few have dared attempt.
