Ayuba
A short history of prince Ayuba Diallo from Bundu, Senegal. Ayuba Diallo was a aristocratic scholar who fell victim to the Atlantic slave trade . Ayuba diallo started to gain attention from his masters by his impressive skills writing arabic. They also thought he was too sophisticated to be a normal slave. Ayuba Diallo wrote first hand accounts and slavery, some of the first to ever become written . Ayuba diallo wrote a letter in arabic to then Secretary of State (john adams). John adams had the document translated to english from Morrocan diplomats. He was later freed from bondage ! I love this story because of the sense empowerment it gives me.
