In episode 2 of the new series, our host Kate Creedon talks with two sporty special guests, originally from Ireland, who’ve followed the well-trodden path across to Sydney’s Eastern suburbs.
There’s ex-Irish international rugby player Aoife McDermott, who moved to Sydney in 2019 and has taken up a second sport, Aussie Rules, whilst also doing agency nursing work for Alliance. Aoife tells us how the flexibility of agency nursing allows her to fit her sporting commitments alongside her work and explains how Alliance supported her in making the trip down under!
We also meet Joe Kinahan who swapped Ireland for Sydney in 2015 and is now the Chairperson of Clan Na Gael GAA Club in Bondi. He and Kate discuss his time in Australia so far, and Joe explains how sports clubs can be a really great way for people to make friends when they arrive – even if you’re not particularly sporty!
