Banshees of Inisherin was directed by Martin McDonagh and won a Golden Globe for Best Comedy. Colin Farrell also won a Golden Globe for Best Comedy Actor for his performance. While the film is full of well executed humor, it is the sad story of a friendship ending, legacy, and coming to terms with life's changes. McDonagh has once again written and directed an excellent black comedy.

Goodnight Mommy is an Austrian film directed by Severin Fiala and Veronika Franz. This film takes on very interesting perspective changes as it keeps you moving through its ominous and creepy tone. While this is a horror film, it has a very nuanced family dynamic that makes the story feel more rich and real. We are certain that this is a much better film than the 2022 American version. 

The Descent was released in 2005 and was directed by Neil Marshall. This movie was dedicated to his dog that passed during filming and we don't thing the dog would be proud. For a film that follows a group of friends venturing into a cave it lacks any depth. This film is not worth watching but our review is worth listening to.  

The Bad Seed was released 1956 and is an adaptation of a stage play by the same name. Many of the actors from the stage play even reprise their roles in the film. The film discusses the merits of nature vs nurture in the most boring way possible, but it is very quotable and a lot of fun to watch!

In Bruges was released in 2008 and was written and directed by Martin McDonagh (Seven Psychopaths, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri). In Bruges is a fantastic black comedy with a surprising amount of depth and nuance. Costars Brendan Gleeson and Colin Farrell play off each other in an amazing way and deliver some of the best comedic dialog.

Requiem is one of Darren Aronofsky's early films a depict the lives of four drug addicts and their spiral into oblivion. Noah was released in 2014 and was directed by Darren Aronofsky. This director has tackled biblical stories in other films but in Noah he goes full Bible with his own unique take on the story of the great flood. This film drew the ire of the Catholic church and other denominations as it wasn't the truest adaptation of the Christian story. Memoria was directed by Apichatpong (Joe) Weerasethakul and was released in theaters in 2021 and will never be released in any other medium or streaming on any service. Memoria is a guided meditative experience where the narrative is loosely defined. Fresh was directed by Mimi Cave and was written by Lauryn Kahn. You can find this film on Hulu and it's certainly worth a watch despite it not being the social commentary it tried to be. This is a fine film with an excellent first 30 minutes.

Happening was directed by Audrey Diwan and tells the story of a young women named Anne who is dealing with an unwanted pregnancy in 1960's France. This is a very personal story that tackles a major issue. This is a fantastic film and it's worth your time.

Hatching is a Finnish horror film directed by Hanna Bergholm. This film follows the story of a young girl who can never do anything right in her mothers eyes. But something dark has joined the family and it will change them forever. 

One episode wasn't enough for us. We needed to discuss this fantastic film further. This episode will dive deeper into what this film means and a discussion surrounding it's importance and the internet in general.

"We're all Going to the Worlds Fair" was directed by Jane Schoenbrun and is a masterful depiction of the internet horror culture. It will grab you with its characters and linger with you. This is not a standard horror film with lazy jump scares. It will confront you and leave you asking for more. This is a film that deserved your attention.

Drive my car was directed by Ryusuke Hamaguchi and is based on a short story by the same name. This film won the 2022 Oscar for best international film. While duration of this film might turn many off to it, it is packed with powerful and intimate moments that make the film worth watching.

The Northman is directed by Robert Eggers, the creative mind behind the Witch and the Lighthouse. While the Northman doesn't reach the meditative and psychological peaks of it's predecessors, it is a well made film with a great cast.

Belfast was directed by Kenneth Branagh and was a 2022 best picture nominee. This is a sweet little film surrounded by a serious event told through the eyes of a child.
