Sarah and Nippy were in the NXIVM (said Nexium) cult for 12 and 16 years respectively.
In early 2017, Sarah was invited into a secret women's sect of the cult called DOS. She was asked to strip naked, was blindfolded and led into a room with several other women.
She was then instructed to repeat the words "Master, would you brand me? It would be an honour" and she was branded with the cult leaders initials.
It wasn't long after, that Sarah and Nippy along with a small band of close friends, blew the whistle and alerted the media and authorities about the crimes of Keith Raniere.
He ended up being sentenced to 120 years in prison for sex trafficking and racketeering charges, among others.
In this episode, I spoke to Sarah and Nippy about their experiences within the cult, how they got out and how they have begun their healing process to regain their lives and families.
They now have a podcast called A Little Bit Culty, where they speak to cult experts, whistleblowers and other cult survivors.

This episode, I had John Christensen join me on NSSDB.
John is one of 6 fathers who collaborated with each other to create a book of dadvice (see what we did there?). It’s about the road fathers travel. Not always paved, not always smooth. It’s about regret, success, vulnerability and relationship enrichment.
It’s written by average dude dads, for average dude dads that want to be better.
Village Wisdom is the “dad manual” you’ve been searching for.
In this weeks episode, Nate and John discuss the book and how it has strengthened relationships in John's life. We also go off on a bit of a tangent where we discuss the time we first became fathers. Both of our jaws were on the floor when we discussed the cost of having a baby in the US vs Australia.

This episode, Mike Finnigan returns to the show for another chat.
Mike is a father of 2 and a stepdad of a 3rd child. Mike and I sat down and spoke about our respective lives and contemplate our roles as dads. We also discuss how we manage our inner selves and how easily we can lie to ourselves.
We also discuss the importance of mindfulness and gratitude, and how, with these practices, we can learn to recentre ourselves so we can be a guiding light for those around us.
This episode, King Smith joins Nate on the show. King is from the US and a dad to a teenage daughter. He is also the host of Chats with Dads, a video podcast on YouTube.
In this episode, Nate and King let the conversation go where it naturally wanted to go. They talk about their respective divorces, coparenting, child support and most importantly, setting clear personal boundaries after divorce. They also consider whether it is possible to stay friends with an ex after a separation and divorce.

Toddler Inc. is the 3rd book, which was released last year, in the Adventures in Dadding series . We also talk about how to broach tough subjects with kids, the toddler wonderment in the small things that we, as adults, often miss and the fascination that toddlers have with obscure items, like Henry the Hoover.

This episode features a conversation with my mate from down under, Nate Newman, host of the (Not So) Secret Dads Business podcast. Nate is currently taking a break from podcasting on his own platform, but reached out to me for us to talk about what we're both currently experiencing with our respective sons: not being able to keep up with how fast they're growing up before our very eyes.
We discuss a sense of loss and pride that comes with watching our children come into their own, as well as some practical things we can do to take our relationship with our children and our spouse/partner to the next level.
As always, thank you for spending part of your week with us!
