Navigating The Void
2.2: Natasha Taliadoros - Connection and compassion
Trigger warning: This episode contains references to sexual and domestic abuse.

Tash is one of those people that just oozes good energy and if one thing is clear after recording this is that she is someone who has dedicated her life to helping others and healing herself. Tash has a degree in psychology and qualifications in hypnotherapy and counselling. She is also founder of Think Different, is a course for domestic abuse prevention and recovery and is also in the process of developing an app to support vulnerable people in need and victims of abuse called ListenApp.

We follow the thread of Tash’s journey of helping others through hypnotherapy, counselling, meditation and being able to connect with those that have experienced domestic and sexual abuse because of her own past. She shares how she worked through her own experience of trauma and drops lots of insights and interesting tips along the way too, a significant reflection being about surrendering to the universe and learning to let go.

I hope it sparks your curiosity and if you’d like to share any take aways from this episode or any of the previous ones, please get in touch as I’d love to share them.

1. 4: Jack Collison - From injured to inspired
Jack Collison shares how he has he navigated his identity change from a premier league footballer to a coach after his knee injury re-directed him to a new chapter. He opens up about his dark days and the mental toughness needed to redefine himself and offers an insight into the benefits of his therapy experience which helped him with the grieving process of losing his Dad. The biggest lesson he shares is being able to talk openly with someone who was non-judgemental, although he also finds writing things down and journalling very powerful. His experiences and the realisation that footballers are humans first and not unbreakable has given Jack a unique understanding into how to be the best coach, father, husband and person he can be.

1. 3: Oskar - Survival mode
Trigger warning: this episode contains suicide references.

After a traumatic event, Oskar found his body stuck in survival mode. Unable to breathe or move properly and in chronic pain, his doctors prescribed medical treatment but this was ineffective. After he started his own healing journey he started to link his heightened state of stress, anxiety and depression with his trauma and from there discovered his process of healing and recovery. He also discusses the importance of rebelling when you’re young to find out who you are and the influence his experiences have had on his growth as a person, musician, designer and spiritual consultant.

1. 2: Sophie Atalar - Licence for expression
Sophie speaks about how her childhood experiences have influenced her throughout her journey and talks openly about more recently being diagnosed as an adult with ADD and having her own counselling. She reflects how her difficulties, strengths and realisations have impacted on both her professional and personal choices and perspectives so far in her journey. As a singing specialist, she offers insights on the voice and how it relates to our expression and identity and how her experiences have led her from being a teacher and performer to now training as a life coach. We touch on broader subjects including identity, responding vs reacting, awareness, and the importance of not compromising on our core beliefs and values. We could’ve talked all day! I’m sure we will do another episode at some point but I hope you enjoy this first honest conversation with Sophie.
