In a beautiful pine forest in South western Finland we take a walk with Dr Simon Beames, Senior Lecturer in Outdoor Learning at Edinburgh University, Simon was in Finland to give a keynote talk “Educating Generation Z” at www.Ulos2017.fi, Finland’s largest outdoor learning conference, a part of Suomi/Finland 100 year celebrations. Why do we create outdoor programs and how does the environment affect the practice we do? We wander along sandy paths and compare the outdoor learning and education traditions in Canada, Scotland and Finland. Simon has created “Outdoor Journeys” and is the author of Adventurous Learning: A Pedagogy for a Changing World.
