S2E8 Fighting the Good Fight with Tommy Duquette

My comeback episode! In this episode, I get personal and give my audience a status report on how I've been doing before introducing my guest. If you're part of the Mythic Mission Facebook group (by becoming a Patreon member--go to www.mythicmission.com to learn how), then you've probably already heard this update...but for those of you who haven't, in the first few minutes, I give you an update on what I've been dealing with the last 6 months. Then, I connect this to why I invited Tommy Duquette, co-founder of the at home fitness and boxing program called Fight Camp. I am hoping to encourage all of you, especially if you are engaged in education apologetics like I am, to take good care of ALL of you. God created us as complex beings: soul, body, heart, imagination, and intellect. C.S. Lewis scholar Alister E. McGrath put it this way: "Lewis would remind us that apologists need to be looked after. They get spiritually drained." In the rest of the episode, I explain how Fight Camp has significantly improved my health and well-being and has begun to help me "fight back." If you're looking to get into great shape, battle anxiety and depression, deal with stress, or lose weight, Fight Camp can help you get there. Check them out here:

https://joinfightcamp.com/

I also mention J.P. Moreland's excellent book about his personal battle with anxiety in today's episode--I can't tell you how much it's helped me. The book is called Finding Quiet.

It's good to be back!

"He Descended to the Dead...On the Third Day he Rose from the Dead": Mythic Mission Holy Week 2022

In this special Holy Week 2022 Mythic Mission episode, I once again return to the topic of Holy Saturday (with visual aids this time!) and explore what it means that Jesus "descended to the dead." Then, I address the argument that Easter, like Christmas, is a pagan holiday that the Church borrowed from surrounding pagan cultures/myths and finish with a lesson on the relationship between the true myth of Jesus Christ and all the others.

S2E3: "The King Lives Within Us All": J.R.R. Tolkien and the Issue of Allegory, Dedicated to my Aunt Dale
"The King lives within all of us!" My Aunt Dale wrote this to me in one of the many emails we sent back and forth over the last few years about my book. She then went on to say that my book helps you understand how we are all "made in the image of God." This episode is dedicated to my Aunt Dale who just passed away on Ash Wednesday of 2022 after a heroic battle with cancer. I took today off to pray, read, reflect, and grieve, and to be there for my Mom, who was very close with her little sister. She and I got to talk yesterday and today at length and I've been able to share so much about what my Aunt Dale wrote me with my Mom that she didn't even know about. I hope the rest of my Capozzoli and Jahosky family will learn a little more about my relationship with my Aunt Dale, too. It's funny, in one of the emails she sent, she mentioned she was still reading through my book but it was "dense," and I knew what section she was referring to (Chapter 1!). She still toughed it out and read it, and she always had nothing but the kindest and most supportive words to say. I got the sense she didn't want to hurt my feelings (she didn't), but she wanted to tell me that part was hard to understand! Amen to that. It was the hardest part of writing my book. I know she probably could've benefited from hearing some of this sooner, but I know for certain she can still hear it, so Aunt Dale, I hope this sets some of the technical stuff straight (even if I still have to wade through a lot of terms!). Today's episode was a catharsis for me and it helped me grieve and remember all the wonderful memories I have of her from my childhood, mine and Sarah's wedding (she and her husband had some awesome dance moves!!), and our long correspondence. She was so proud of my book and this podcast. Aunt Dale, you are so missed, and we love you. We know you will get a new body and we will see you again one day.  My Aunt Dale wrote this about my book, sending out a big email to our family..."Boy oh boy,  I have I’ve been enjoying this fabulous book by our wonderful family member, Michael T. Jahosky — “The Good News of the Return of the King: The Gospel in Middle-earth”.  Michael has worked for five years to produce this work,  and it is fabulous in every way" www.mythicmission.com www.patreon.com/mythicmission
