Mom guilt, you say? Join the club. Except our take on that is a bit different than you may think. The hit series on Netflix, “Workin’ Moms” presents all kinds of motherhood-related themes, and today we use the show as the backdrop for a discussion around working-mom struggles, mom guilt, rage and more.
We start by looking back at how TV moms have transformed from one-dimensional stereotypes into characters that truly resonate with us. This evolution sets the stage for "Workin Moms," a dark comedy that fearlessly lays bare the struggles women face while juggling careers and motherhood.
We focus mostly on the show's sixth season, bursting with relatable themes – think navigating stepchild dynamics, trusting our maternal instincts, handling workplace tensions, and even wrestling with anger management like Anne. And then there's Kate, caught in the internal tug-of-war between work, kids and self-fulfillment. It's a struggle we all know too well.
Catherine Reitman's quote, "I don't say I have to go to work, I say I get to go to work," struck a chord with us. It prompted introspection on how we handle those inevitable pangs of mom guilt.
If you're a "Workin’ Moms" fan or someone threading the delicate path between career and motherhood, this one’s for you.
