My Ordinary Life with Suzie

TRIGGER WARNING: institutional and physical abuse, abortion, bullying, infant extreme ill health, loneliness, premature death of disabled people

Welcome to our podcast, ‘My Ordinary Life’.

In each episode we will be talking to some fascinating people who have one thing in common: they all have a learning disability.

In this episode, we meet Suzie.

Suzie has faced great adversity in her life. This has fuelled her passion and lifelong work advocating for people who have learning disabilities. She educates professionals and has developed a mindfulness programme for people with learning disabilities.

Suzie is a poet and shares a powerful poem that she has written about her time in a mental health institution.

At the heart of everything she does is a love for her family. Suzie is an involved and committed mum having had to fight to keep her children in her life.

Some of our guests have speech differences and you may prefer to watch with subtitles on YouTube: https://youtu.be/iB6cL8p07q8
