Welcome to the second season of our podcast, ‘My Ordinary Life’.
This new season is all about talking openly with people with a learning disability about death and dying, the feelings we have when someone we love dies and how we can help people to feel more comfortable talking about these topics.
In this episode we meet Syed Ullah, Dawn Flockton, Shirley Potts and Joanna Routledge who are members of Inclusion North’s Stop People Dying Too Young Group. The episode is hosted by Karen Parry.
They talk about people they have loved who have died. They talk about how to remember people who have died. We learn about grief in muslim cultures and what it’s like to grieve for someone who is far away. They discuss what grief is like for children. There are some tears and many smiles as they discuss how to celebrate those we love who have died.
