In this episode, I talk with Beth, a 57-year-old woman from Portland, Oregon, with 3 kids, who, up until her mushroom trip at Epic Healing in Eugene, Oregon, had never done a single illegal drug. Not one, which seems to be more common than I’d once thought for people seeking out psychedelic-assisted therapy. There is something to it that draws in a person like Beth, someone seeking to feel better and be a better version of themselves. Something they haven’t been able to achieve with conventional therapeutic methods. Beth goes through some profound changes because of her time spent at Epic, including career changes, interpersonal relationship changes, and life outlook changes. There is a dragon involved, a golden idol, and a mystical web that runs through all of us, connecting us, despite our differences, together.
In this episode I talk with Noah, who was diagnosed with OCD when he was 10 years old and can not remember a time after that when his mind was at rest. During his psychedelic journey at Fractal, EPIC Healing’s Portland location, Noah experiences ego death and rebirth into a self with more confidence and the ability to quiet his thoughts. Noah calls his psychedelic journey one of the best experiences of his life where he learns that he can’t control everything that happens, that he will still fail and make mistakes, and when he does, he no longer needs to obsess about his actions. Noah believes that psychedelic mushrooms deserve a prominent place in the treatment of OCD. Although they may not offer a complete cure for the disorder, they offer opportunity for healing and a path forward towards a quieter mind for a mental illness that has limited treatment options that are often scarce and inaccessible.
In this episode, I have a conversation with Caroline, who has struggled with self-acceptance and anxiety for as long as she can remember and has used technology and alcohol as a form of escape. When she was younger, Caroline underwent breast augmentation surgery, which she later reversed, but the procedure left her with both physical and emotional scarring. During her psychedelic journey at EPIC Healing in Eugene, Oregon, Caroline is visited by generations of women who embrace her for who she is and give her the gift of forgiveness for the trauma and pain of her past. Caroline is also decapitated by a Hindu goddess, merges with a Chinese Dragon, and is given visions of the universe by court jesters. Ultimately, through all of this, Caroline experiences the deep understanding that she no longer needs the distraction of her phone and alcohol as an escape from anxiety and that the only thing that matters in life is the time she spends fully engaged in the present moment with family and friends.
In this episode I have a conversation with Peter, who has experienced generational trauma that has had a significant impact on his family and his mental health resulting in food and alcohol addiction as well as suicidal ideation. He credits his years of conventional therapy as preparing him for his psychedelic journey at Epic Healing, where he is able to revisit and reevaluate the generational trauma that has impacted his entire life. Peter ends his journey feeling truly relaxed for the first time. He is able to let go of a lifetime of self-doubt and insecurities and discovers a new ability to love himself and feel confident that he has the tools to live a healthier life for himself and his family.
In this episode, I have a conversation with Mike, who suffers from anxiety and depression, which has affected his ability to feel a full range of emotions, and to connect deeply and joyfully with the people and experiences that have shaped his life. Through his experience at Epic Healing, Mike revisits his past and grieves what he has lost by not always being fully present. At the same time, he is able to experience the joy that was always there, accessing those emotions for the first time. After his experience at Epic, Mike undergoes a fundamental change in how he navigates life, not letting the regrets of his past chart a course for his future.
In this episode, I interview Tyler who grew up with detrimental self-doubts about himself rooted in a negative body image that led him to believe he could never be good enough. In his 30s, Tyler quits his successful job in the tech industry and embarks on a journey of self-healing. Through his experience at Epic Healing, Tyler briefly loses himself before discovering new feelings of acceptance for who he is, an understanding that life can be lived on his terms, and a sense of peace of not knowing what is yet to come.
Jillian is a neurodiverse individual, who on the night before she turned 6, experienced the suicide of her father. Through her experience with psychedelic therapy at Epic Healing, Jillian was able to make a profound shift in the way she thinks of herself - from the thought that there is something fundamentally damaged about who she is, to the understanding that she is a beautiful person who has been shaped by her trauma and neurodivergence, not defined by it.
In this episode, I interview Ben, who has struggled with depression and anxiety during his adult life. Through his experience with psychedelic therapy at Epic Healing in Eugene Oregon, Ben had an opportunity to explore who he is at his core, heal the trauma he has experienced in life, and ultimately learn to love himself again.
I made this podcast to introduce people to what is like to experience psychedelic therapy using psilocybin, the chemical compound found in magic mushrooms. I will interview people who have experienced this type of therapy firsthand at Epic Healing in Eugene Oregon, the first fully licensed and trained service center offering psychedelic healing. I myself, went to Epic Healing in January of 2023. I will share my experience in a later episode. I hope to release a new episode every week or two. Buckle up.
