Tanhau Tales w/ Sunando Sen | EP 14

I had the pleasure of interviewing Sunando Sen, a former corporate professional turned consultant, investment banker, and entrepreneur. Along with everything else he is also a wildlife conservationist who now runs a sustainable home stay atop a small hill in Jim Corbett. I recorded this piece at his place itself and you'll hear the nature in all it’s glory as the background track :)

Today, we’ll explore:

  1. What brought Sunando to Corbett.
  2. How his life has transformed.
  3. What lessons others can learn from his journey.
  4. Additionally, we'll dive into the unique aspects of his homestay, including its majestic views and the philosophy behind not only the homestay but everything else he does.

At the cost of sounding cliche,  if you’re looking for an off the beaten track experience, Tanhau has to be on your list! However, be prepared for a thorough interview process that ensures a perfect guest experience. Haha.. I am not even kidding, try for yourself by giving them a follow on IG: https://www.instagram.com/tanhau_tales?igsh=MWw3ZGFybWViMXJqcw==
and sending a DM.
Or mailing them at: sunandosen@gmail.com

You can also check out their website: http://www.tanhau.in/

I not only enjoyed my stay at the place but also ended up getting many ideas from Sunando, that I am itching to execute myself.

Indulge away!

Man on a Mission to Restore Bio Diversity w/ Dr. Faiyaz Ahmad Khudsar | EP 11

Today we are in conversation with Dr. Faiyaz Ahmad Khudsar a passionate scientist who has led an amazing team to restore acres of sodic land into flourishing bio diverse forest within Delhi-NCR.

This is a feat that noone has been able to accomplish in the whole world and as I promised, here are the details of all parks:

1) The Yamuna Biodiversity Park (YBP) located near the Wazirabad village, on the banks of Yamuna River, is one of the best nature reserves in Delhi. It is spread across 457 acres.

2) Aravalli Biodiversity Park, for a really long time, has been working towards multiplying the number of medicinal plants which are otherwise threatened. There are more than 240 species of medicinal plants inside the park.

3) Neela Hauz Biodiversity Park: The transformation that Neela Hauz received is nothing short of a miracle. Looking at the giant garbage dumb, who would have thought that this was, once upon a time, a lake where all the excess water from the neighbouring forest was collected, and eventually supplied drinking water to a large population in South Delhi?

4) Tilpath Valley Biodiversity Park: The park is spread over an area of 69.56 ha on the Southern Ridge, and meets the Aravalli ranges of Haryana. The park is connected with Asola-Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary and Aravallis in Haryana.

5) Kamla Nehru Ridge is also known as the Northern Ridge. It is spread across a total area of 122.00 ha. It is located near Delhi University's north Campus.

6) Tughlaqabad Biodiversity Park: The park has four major wetlands areas that clean up the groundwater. The forest in and around Tughlaqabad Biodiversity Park plays an important role in conserving the underground water as well as the native plants and animal species.

7) Kalindi Biodiversity Park: The park was added to the list in 2015, making it the youngest addition. Kalindi Biodiversity Park is home to the Yamuna floodplains, an extremely important area of conservation.

There is so much to learn when you visit these places, hope some of you actually take the time out to go and appreciate what Dr. Khudsar has done and may be meet him in person and tell him that you heard the podcast and came to see him :)

Today we are in conversation with Bharati Chaturvedi, a passionate advocate for environmental issues and gender equality, she embarked on a remarkable journey shaped by her deep connection with the natural world.

Moving Forests with Keshav Sharma

Moving Forests with Keshav Sharma is a wildlife podcast, where I focus on sharing interesting things about different species and fascinating places for wildlife content creators and wild life enthusiasts. The show is for people who are struggling with lack of information and sources and I want to help them through my interviews with prominent wild lifers on knowledge about the wild, some cool hacks that these people have developed through their experience and intrigue the curiosity of more and more people and sensitise them about our beautiful natural world.
