Movie Mandates: CUTIES (Pearl Clutchers)
Welcome to Movie Mandates, a review show in which sibling cinephiles Andrew and Keleigh force each other to watch movies according to a monthly theme!  June is Pearl Clutchers month and I mandated Cuties, a movie about a dance troupe of young girls who, lacking any guidance from the adults in their lives, mimic the overtly sexual dress and dance moves they see online.  This film created a firestorm a couple years back, not due to the film's content or themes, but Netflix's obnoxiously thoughtless marketing that focused on the young leads posing provocatively in their skimpy dance duds. How's the movie?  Well, that's what we're here to find out! 0:00 - Trivial Trivia 7:16- Cuties review 1:07:43- Next episode's mandated movie We'll be back in two weeks with another mandated movie.  If you'd like to watch it, click here to find where it's streaming or available to rent. If you'd like to watch the video version of Movie Mandates, you can do so on YouTube.  Alternatively, you can listen to and audio-only version on iTunes.  New episodes of Movie Mandates drop on the first and third Wednesday of every month! Movie Mandates: FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR (As Good As We Remember?)
Welcome to Movie Mandates, a review show in which sibling cinephiles Andrew and Keleigh force each other to watch movies according to a monthly theme!  This month we're asking if the movies from our childhood are As Good As We Remember.  For our final episode this month, my sister has mandated we watch Flight of the Navigator, a movie that answers a question we wouldn't think to ask until decades later: What if Siri was Pee-wee Herman? 0:00 - Trivial Trivia 16:40- Flight of the Navigator review 54:52- Next episode's mandated movie We'll be back in two weeks with another mandated movie.  If you'd like to watch it, click here to find where it's streaming or available to rent. Movie Mandates: THE FACULTY (As Good As We Remember?)
Welcome to Movie Mandates, a review show in which sibling cinephiles Andrew and Keleigh force each other to watch movies according to a monthly theme!  This month my sister and I are mandating older movies we enjoyed when we were younger but haven't seen in decades.  Today, we're taking a look at my mandated movie, The Faculty, a late '90s riff on The Invasion of the Body Snatchers set in a small town high school.  We saw it in the theater when we were in high school and thought it was spiffy! But we're adults now.  Is it... Welcome to Movie Mandates, a review show in which sibling cinephiles Andrew and Keleigh force each other to watch movies according to a monthly theme!  Could Be a Porno month comes to an end with our final movie that could be a porno, Holes!  Who's holes?  How many holes?  What's going in or coming out of those holes?  We'll, we'll just have to watch the movie and find out! Porno or children's film, one thing's for certain: it's likely not a fun watch for trypophobes! 0:00 - Trivial Trivia 10:46- Holes review 56:51- Next episode's mandated movie We'll be back in two weeks with another mandated movie.  If you'd like to watch it, click here to find where it's streaming or available to rent. Welcome to Movie Mandates, a review show in which sibling cinephiles Andrew and Keleigh force each other to watch movies according to a monthly theme!  It's April and that means we're celebrating films with titles that Could Be a Porno!  We're kicking off the festivities with Fun With Dick and Jane, the earliest example of a movie I can think of that made me giggle like the immature child I was and arguably still am. 0:00 - Trivial Trivia 11:15 - Fun With Dick and Jane review 1:00:38 - Next episode's mandated movie We'll be back in two weeks with another mandated movie.  If you'd like to watch it, click here to find where it's streaming or available to rent. Welcome to Movie Mandates, a review show in which sibling cinephiles Andrew and Keleigh force each other to watch movies according to a monthly theme!  Feel-bad Movie month concludes with Keleigh's pick, Legends of the Fall, a film about the extensive bad karma that's visited upon you and yours when you abuse animals. At least, that's my read. 0:00 - Trivial Trivia 13:45- Legends of the Fall review 57:13- Next episode's mandated movie We'll be back in two weeks with another mandated movie.  If you'd like to watch it, click here to find where it's streaming or available to rent. Movie Mandates: Sophie’s Choice (Feel-bad Movies)
Welcome to Movie Mandates, a review show in which sibling cinephiles Andrew and Keleigh force each other to watch movies according to a monthly theme!  You've heard of Feel-good Movies?  Well, March is all about Feel-bad Movies!  Stories that may be genuinely great but they leave you feeling hopeless, dirty, and alone as you sit naked in your shower stall under a cold spray and gently cry yourself back to some semblance of comfort.  There are many such films to pick from but whichever one we watch, the result is going to be the same.  It's real... Sophie's Choice! See what we did there? 0:00 - Trivial Trivia 6:31- Sophie's Choice review 1:00:43- Next episode's mandated movie We'll be back in two weeks with another mandated movie.  If you'd like to watch it, click here to find where it's streaming or available to rent. Movie Mandates: Hidden Figures (Black History Month)
Welcome to Movie Mandates, a review show in which sibling cinephiles Andrew and Keleigh force each other to watch movies according to a monthly theme!  We're kicking off Black History Month with my mandated movie, Hidden Figures, a film that dramatizes the significant contribution black women made to the space program in the 60s.  Normally, I'd pretend I knew who these women were even before the book this film is based on released - you know, for internet cookies - but their stories being purposefully buried in history's trash bin is kind of the point so yeah, let's spend an hour critiquing these women's titular figures! Figures as in math.  What did you think I meant? 0:00 - Trivial Trivia 13:05- Hidden Figures review 1:05:22- Next episode's mandated movie We'll be back in two weeks with another mandated movie.  If you'd like to watch it, click here to find where it's streaming or available to rent. Welcome to Movie Mandates, a review show in which sibling cinephiles Andrew and Keleigh force each other to watch movies according to a monthly theme!  Last year, Keleigh mandated we watch Igby Goes Down. She chose... poorly. So, for Mea Culpa month, my sister has mandated we watch Pi, an early work from Darren Aronofsky, a filmmaker who's all about the feel-good movies so I'm sure we're in good hands! 0:00 - Trivial Trivia 14:54- Pi review 49:59- Next episode's mandated movie We'll be back in two weeks with another mandated movie.  If you'd like to watch it, click here to find where it's streaming or available to rent. Movie Mandates: Dog Day Afternoon (Mea Culpa)
Welcome to Movie Mandates, a review show in which sibling cinephiles Andrew and Keleigh force each other to watch movies according to a monthly theme!  We're not sadists.  We're not trying to torture ourselves or you so every movie we mandate is mandated in good faith.  We never try to pick bad movies but sometimes we mess up.  Well, that's what Mea Culpa month is for!  It's our opportunity to apologize for sucky mandated movies with a different film that hopefully doesn't suck! Last year I mandated When Worlds Collide for Disaster Movie Month.  It wasn't very good.  So, to make up for it, I've mandated Dog Day Afternoon, a movie about the most disastrous bank robbery this side of Quick Change! 0:00 - Trivial Trivia 13:05- Dog Day Afternoon review 1:02:15- Next episode's mandated movie We'll be back in two weeks with another mandated movie.  If you'd like to watch it, click here to find where it's streaming or available to rent. Movie Mandates: From Dusk Till Dawn 2 (There’s a Sequel?!!!)
Welcome to Movie Mandates, a review show in which sibling cinephiles Andrew and Keleigh force each other to watch movies according to a monthly theme!  This month we're celebrating movies you may not have known got a sequel.  This week, my sister mandated we watch the direct-to-video sequel, From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money.  Does it have anything to do with the original?  Eh, not much.  It honestly feels like it was originally a different movie that was retrofit with a known IP to increase visibility but according to multiple sources, apparently not! 0:00 - Trivial Trivia 15:30- From Dusk Till Dawn 2 review 1:00:28- Next episode's mandated movie We'll be back in two weeks with another mandated movie.  If you'd like to watch it, click here to find where it's streaming or available to rent. Movie Mandates: The Odd Couple II (There’s a Sequel?!!!)
Welcome to Movie Mandates, a review show in which sibling cinephiles Andrew and Keleigh force each other to watch movies according to a monthly theme!  December is a new month and a new month means a new theme and that new theme is: There's a Sequel?!!!  Yes, December is all about those movies that somehow ended up with a sequel.  For example, this week's mandated movie is the 1998 sequel to the 1968 adaptation of the 1965  Neil Simon Broadway play, The Odd Couple. Yes, they made a sequel to The Odd Couple. Yes, 30 years later. They certainly weren't cashing in on a hot IP so surely they had a story that needed to be told, right? 0:00 - Trivial Trivia 16:59- The Odd Couple II review 52:38- Next episode's mandated movie We'll be back in two weeks with another mandated movie.  If you'd like to watch it, click here to find where it's streaming or available to rent.
