Sergeant First Class Christopher Wright | How Army Recruiters Adapt to a Changing Nation
Raising the Bar: How Army Recruiters Adapt to a Changing Nation – My Guest, Sergeant First Class Christopher Wright. “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.” ~ R. Reagan Times change and so does the military.  As we go from one generation to the next, the needs and threats to America continue to evolve. So in order to keep up with the everchanging world that we live in, our military recruiters are tasked with finding the right people for the job. My guest this week, Sergeant First Class – Christopher Wright, has been serving as an Army recruiter for 4 years and he has seen a lot of changes in the military over the past two decades.  Since all of America’s branches are volunteer, finding qualified individuals is not always so easy.  Sgt. Wright discusses how the military is not for everyone, but for those that do fit the calling, the military can be a very exciting and rewarding career. Travel, career options, lifelong benefits, and unique experiences await those that join the services.  Sgt. Wright discusses the diversity of jobs that are available and how the needs are always changing, like how AI is impacting the tech world as an example.  If you or someone you know has ever been interested in joining the military or maybe they are just curious about the nuances between the guard versus the reserves then this is the episode for you.  It is always an honor to highlight our military and our veterans. Bailee Harris | Uncovering the Truth About Postpartum
Beyond the Baby Blues: Uncovering the Truth About Postpartum Depression – My Guest, Bailee Harris. “My scars are badges of courage – proof I fought for my baby and myself.” My guest this week shares her difficult journey of battling through postpartum depression and how she found healing in small steps.  Today, we are breaking the silence on a topic that affects 1 in 7 new mothers yet remains hidden behind smiles and baby photos. Mrs. Bailee Harris talks about how she had pre-planned her entire life, from when she would go to college, to when she would get married, to what age she would start her family.  For Bailee life was a series of boxes that she enjoyed checking and up to the birth of her daughter, her plans had all come together accordingly. It was shortly after her daughter was born that both mom and baby started to have some health issues.  When Bailee’s baby became jaundiced and had to go to the doctor for some treatment and she had some health problems pop up, suddenly Bailee started doubting her ability to care for her daughter and quickly found herself falling into a state of depression. Our conversation is open and honest and Bailee hopes that by sharing her story she will give another mother out there that might be struggling to wrap her head around why she feels sad or is even having suicidal thoughts, that she is not alone.  She hopes that her story will give someone else the strength and courage to ask for help and realize that asking for help is the strongest, bravest and most helpful thing you can do for yourself and for your baby.  If you or someone you know is suffering from postpartum depression you can call the Postpartum Depression (PPD) hotline at 844-987-9882. Dr. Tracy Hall, President of STCC: Love for Community
Leading the Way: The Love for Community Drives Dr. Hall My Guest, Southwest Tennessee Community College President, Dr. Tracy Hall. “ Community is not just a place, it’s a purpose.” ~ Unknown My guest this week is a true leader in every sense of the word.  Dr. Tracy Hall is the president of Southwest Tennessee Community College and her story that led her to Memphis was not one of an accident. Dr. Hall shares how she grew up near St. Louis, Missouri, and she came from a large family that played a huge roll in her early foundation which instilled a love and compassion for everyone.  Dr. Hall explains that even though she considers herself to be an introvert she still won Homecoming Queen at her high school and was even voted most popular.  She attributes these accolades to how she always treated everyone the same and genuinely enjoyed learning about others interests. Dr. Hall didn’t initially set out to be an educator, but when a friend suggested she should try teaching, it didn’t take long before she realized how impactful teaching can be.  Over the years Dr. Hall furthered her education and she eventually found her way to administrative roles.  Then when she had the opportunity to apply for a president’s position she had two possibilities.  She could have went to Chattanooga Community College or she could take the position at Southwest Tennessee Community College. Dr. Hall considered both possibilities and she understood that Memphis is a tough city with a lot of crime and poverty.  These realities not only didn’t scare Dr. Hall away, they actually motivated her.  Where some would have ran from the obvious challenges, Dr. Hall embraced the moment looking at it as opportunity.  I know you will be inspired this week’s episode and just remember, “Southwest Tennessee Community College is your best choice.” Please continue to listen and support this podcast and be sure to check out my social media content on my website http://MotivateWithCoachCamp.com   Also, if you are interested in becoming an official sponsor of this podcast please click the link below to learn more.   👉 SPONSOR THIS PODCAST -  https://bit.ly/443wPRj 🔗 WEBSITE - http://www.motivatewithcoachcamp.com 📺 WATCH - YouTube and Facebook 🎧 LISTEN - Apple and Spotify   This episode was recorded at SRP Studios and Produced by Shelby Row Productions LLC SRPStudiosLLC.com

The Pen is Mightier: Dr. Carolyn Wiley’s Leap of Faith
The Pen is Mightier: One Person’s Leap of Faith – My Guest, Dr. Carolyn Wiley. “Stories are the lifeblood of humanity; writers are its vessels.” ~ N. Gaiman   My guest this week found herself taking the easy path early in her life.  Finding the thing we are really good at is not the same thing as pursuing the thing we are passionate about.  The problem with pursuing passions can be, we might find ourselves in uncomfortable places and the fear of failing at our passion can be overwhelming. This is where you must take an absolute leap of faith and realize life is too short to play it safe.  Dr. Carolyn Wiley found herself building a strong foundation in mathematics, but eventually those years in teaching would pay off when she and some colleagues took on the challenge of writing and updating a Statistics book.  This book would eventually be adopted as part of the curriculum and distributed to hundreds of universities all over America. That taste of success as a writer lit a fire and over the years Dr. Wiley began to imagine what could be if she went all in as a writer and a publisher.  After careful consideration and meaningful prayer she decided to quit her job as a teacher and start her own company, Rose and Pearl Publishing.  Tune in to hear about how chasing her dream led her to writing about the story of local firefighter hero (Pat Hardison) that nearly died in a house fire and later received the first ever successful full face transplant in the world.  Mr. Hardison was a guest on the Motivate with Coach Camp podcast and you can listen to his interview by clicking the link. Pool Side Miracle: A Family's Faith and a Community’s Love
Pool Side Miracle: A Family's Faith and a Community’s Love – My Guests, Arnell Morris, Isaac Morris and Little Arnell. “Faith is the strength by which a shattered world shall emerge into light.” ~ H. Keller This week’s story is about a little boy that drowned in a pool and is a story that plays out dozens of times across America every year.  Unfortunately, most do not turn out the way this one did.  My guest Arnell Morris is a former paramedic student of mine from 12 years ago and is currently a firefighter/paramedic with the City of Memphis Fire Department.  In addition, he is a pastor at Messiah Fellowship Memphis. Speaking from experience as a firefighter/paramedic for many years, it always seemed like anytime there was some kind family emergency I was always on duty at the station.  Today’s story happened just like that. Arnell shares how he was at work at the fire station when he suddenly got a call telling him that his son, little Arnell had been in accident and he needed to get to the hospital.  The one thing that gave him some comfort, was hearing his son speaking in the background of the call. It was at the hospital that he learned that his son had drowned in the pool and a lady at the pool party had pulled him from the bottom of the pool and started CPR prior to the ambulance arriving. Trust me when I say you need to hear this amazing story of faith, family and a community that came together to save a young man’s life and then we have the incredible blessing of getting to hear from that young man and how this incident has changed his life. Neil Colley | Serving Up Hope: Inspiring Community Conversations
Serving Up Hope: Inspiring Community Conversations – My Guest, Neil Colley. “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others, especially feeding them.” ~ M. Gandhi   Community leaders come in a variety of ways.  This week’s guest shares how his parents loving nature and motivation to help others inspired him to carry on his mom’s legacy after she passed. Mr. Colley had the unique blend of spending his first 15 years of life in Alabama and then his next 15 years in Wyoming.  The diversity of cultures and exposure to helping those less fortunate planted a seed that would lead him to helping feed elementary kids. Mr. Colley found success in the trucking business and realized his super power was making great connections and getting people excited about helping out.  So when he became involved with the, “Feed My Lambs” ministry he knew that he could add great value with fund raising.  Like most nonprofits, it requires donations to make it work.  The organization fills bags of food that help to feed kids over the weekend.  Mr. Colley talks about how he was shocked to learn how many kids go hungry over the weekend when school is out. Mr. Colley’s involvement started with just soliciting for donations and quickly grew to doing raffles and selling BBQ plates.  Mr. Colley says his mother’s love is what fueled him and seeing the impact on the kids he serves is what keeps him focused.  Mr. Colley’s story is one that should inspire everyone and prove that all you have to do to make a difference is to take action.  If you would like to donate you can learn more by going to http://minormemorial.org or call 662-781-1333. Live Big but Keep Your World Small – Solo Episode with Coach.
Live Big but Keep Your World Small – Solo Episode with Coach. “You deserve to be happy. You deserve to live a life you are excited about. Don’t let others make you forget that.” It could go without saying that everyone will have moments that fill overwhelming and we may struggle to see how things will ever get better.  However, we need to always remember what the scripture says, “This too shall pass.” The promise that time will move on should be a steady reminder that we need to find the best in each moment and never take the good times for granted.  Sometimes this can be easier said than done with the way our phones can constantly push images and stories that are sad and depressing. For this reason, I felt like I would put out a message of encouragement to remind everyone that you must be the curator of your life’s algorithm.  The things that you constantly expose yourself to will be the things that play on a loop in your brain.  Sure it is important to be aware of world events, but ultimately we should only give energy to those things that we can actually influence or change. Your life has a purpose and God has a plan for your life. It is up to you if you choose to seek your calling.  My advice to everyone is to stay humble, work hard, love others and know that one person can make a difference and that person can be you. Shane Phelps, Sheriff of Panola County | From Patrol to Purpose
From Patrol to Purpose: How One Sheriff Inspires Youth in Panola County – My Guest, Shane Phelps, Sheriff of Panola County, MS. “The delicate balance of mentoring someone is not creating them in your own image, but giving them the opportunity to create themselves.” ~ S. Spielberg If I had to answer the question, “what makes a good leader?”  My answer would be very simple…Someone that wants to see others become the best version of themselves.  Regardless of position or title, each and every person has the opportunity to influence others in this way.  I realize when you are in leadership positions you may have a larger audience in which you can influence, but I caution anyone that thinks you have to hold a formal to position to lead or mentor others. However, when you do find someone that holds a leadership position and their heart is in it for the right reasons, magic can happen. I met this week’s guest at the end of a football practice where I had been requested to give an encouraging speech to the football team prior to their upcoming season.  At the end of the my speech Sheriff Phelps introduced himself to me and shared how he too has a passion and love for helping young people get on the right track and do big things. Sheriff Phelps recounted with me a moment in his youth when his house had been burglarized and as a young person he felt fear and uncertainty.  Then when the Sheriff’s officer showed up at his house the officer didn’t just make a report and look for clues, he actually took some time and drove the little boy down his drive and explained that he didn’t need to be scared.  This one moment in time planted a seed that grew over the years and when that little boy become a grownup he knew what he wanted to do for a career. Sheriff Phelps shares with my listeners and viewer how his 17 years as a State Trooper molded him and now as the Sheriff he has a true passion to help the citizens of Panola County and leave behind a legacy that inspires others to serve the community. Rebecca Treadway | Autism Advocates Unite
Autism Advocates Unite:  Exploring the Arc’s Life-Changing Work – My Guest, Rebecca Treadway. “You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.” ~ Z. Ziglar Sometimes in life our passion chooses us instead of us choosing our passion.  This week’s guest grew up in a loving and giving family which planted its roots for helping others.  However, it wasn’t until the birth of her son that she found her purpose. Ms. Treadway shares how learning that her son was born with autism gave her the vision to take action.  Unless you or someone you love has autism there is a decent chance that you wouldn’t know what resources there are to help.  Ms. Treadway talks about how she quickly realized that there were very few resources and even fewer avenues for a community. So with nothing more than a small office and a desk Ms. Treadway set out to change and impact what she could.  With no formal training or expertise on how to run a nonprofit she just took a leap of faith.  Her immediate goal was to provide a safe place for other people diagnosed with autism within the area to be able to gather and share their story and make connections. Ms. Treadway wanted to help in a big way so she started the North Mississippi chapter of “The Arc”.  The Arc had been around since the 50’s and it is an organization that helps people with  “Intellectual Disabilities and Developmental Disabilities”.   We discuss how her chapter has grown over the last 10 years as well as the different areas that break down the autism spectrum and what the differences are between intellectual and developmental disabilities. Keegan Riley | Beyond the Spectrum:  Real Talk on Adult Life with Autism
Beyond the Spectrum:  Real Talk on Adult Life with Autism – My Guest, Keegan Riley. “Autism isn’t a problem to be solved, it’s a perspective to be embraced.” ~ A. Ne’eman Imagine waking up every day and feeling like the world looks and feels different to you than it does to everyone else around you.  That is basically what it is like in the mind of someone with autism.  The way someone with autism interprets information and how they react to that information may seem weird to others.  However, for the person with autism it is all they know. I had the incredible blessing of being the youth league baseball coach of this week’s guest.  Mr. Keegan Riley played a few years of baseball in his pre-teen years and I had even went to college with both of his parents. Keegan shares with my listeners some of the struggles he faced while he was growing up and how it just took time to figure out the best way for him to carve a path of success.  Using his love of gaming and natural ability in tech, Keegan explored jobs that matched his interest. Like many of us, life is just a big game of trial and error.  We can’t know what we will love or be good at unless we try.  This can be an added difficulty when you see the world through a different perspective than others.  Keegan shares how he learned to better manage his impulses and find focus to overcome difficult moments and he stands as a great example of how anyone can turn what others might perceive as a disability, into a strength.  His message to others out there that may be trying to find their way in this world while managing autism, is to never give up and don’t forget that you have a gift that can help others, so never stop growing. Hunter Camp | Breaking Barriers: Autism Awareness through a Preteen’s Eyes
Breaking Barriers: Autism Awareness through a Preteen’s Eyes – My Guest, Hunter Camp. “Autism is not a disability, it’s a different ability.” ~ S. Duncan Over the last 25 years we have seen an increasing number of children being diagnosed with autism.  In fact, some of the latest stats show that 1 in 31 children in the United States alone have some form of autism.  This is a 312% increase since 2000. The average age of diagnosis is around 4 years of age and it may take several years to truly assess the severity of the person’s condition.  The reason for this is because autism doesn’t affect everyone the same.  Hunter is not only my guest this week, but he also happens to be my nephew.  While I can reflect back over the years and think of several people I know that have had to learn how to manage and live with their autism, I can honestly say I’ve had a front row seat to seeing the varying stages my nephew has gone through as he has gotten older. I wasn’t sure how he would do in the studio with all of the bright lights, but true to form he completely surprised me with how easy the conversation was.  It was one more revelation of how we should never put limitations on someone and we should always try and assume the best.  Hunter gives a very honest and candid conversation on some of the things he struggles with and he opens up about the things he loves to do. One of my big takeaways from our conversation was simply, we as a society would do ourselves a huge favor to pause and stifle judgement when someone is acting in a way that is outside the quote “norm”.  Hunter and millions like him just simply see the world differently and they just want to be accepted for the person they are.  My nephew has an enormous heart and I hope our conversation helps someone out there by seeing how this young fella isn’t just surviving, he is thriving!
