A unique series of interviews led by Mortal And Strong charity founder, Dr Liz Murray. Season 1 follows 100 women from the Scars of Gold campaign; an innovative health campaign putting the spotlight on women facing life changing or incurable health conditions at a young age. Exploring all health conditions from cancer to autoimmune conditions, gynaecological conditions, neurological...discussing how these women have faced life changing health problems but found a way to navigate through it and how they found their strength. Each episode explores the individual Voice's journey, before exploring how they found strength in darker days and ending on our infamous last question "when you wake up on a morning, what brings you joy?".
A unique podcast led by Dr Liz Murray, who was a medical doctor for over 10 years before complex health issues led her to leave a clinical facing role. Dr Liz then founded the charity Mortal And Strong to provide education, support and advocacy for people facing life changing health conditions at a young age. In the first 100 Voices we have covered over 140 critical health conditions, sharing messages of hope and strength, being real and honest. Trying to change the social stigma of disease, trying to provide a beacon of light to those in the early stages of their journey.

In this episode of the Mortal and Strong podcast, we are joined by the wonderful Lucy!
Lucy shares her story of living with breast cancer; both as someone who went into remission, to later receiving a Stage 4 diagnosis. Lucy also discusses her treatment, mastectomy, and finding out she was pregnant shortly after her initial diagnosis.
This episode is incredibly insightful as to the emotional impact of such a heavy diagnosis, and Lucy speaks so eloquently and honestly about her experience. Discussing the huge impact facing your mortality has on relationships with others, as well as yourself, the implications of a ‘crack on’ mentality, and how not having chemo made her feel she wasn’t ‘sick enough’.
Thank you to Lucy for such a raw, thoughtful interview, and becoming another fantastic voice for our Scars of Gold campaign!
Scars of Gold is a health awareness campaign sharing the voices of 100 women facing their mortality at a young age with life changing or incurable health conditions. Produced by charity @mortalandstrong (No.1209448).
