In this episode we focus on Oxfam, Stafford Hospital, Kids Company and Zimbabwean churches to understand why non-profit organisations behave in ways that are inconsistent with their high values. I interview Dr Matthew Grimes, Dr Neil Goodwin, Professor Naomi Chambers and Dr Masiiwa Gunda and discuss the leadership of Camila Batmanghelidjh, Uebert Angel, Walter Magaya and Emmanuel Makandiwa. The latter three are 'Men of God' who have achieved huge following with their fashionable, controversial brand of Christianity. The first half of the episode explains the concepts of 'mission drift', the notion that organisations can adjust their products and services over time to serve purposes different to their intentions. The second (from about the 25 minute mark) applies those concepts to explain the behaviour of churches in Zimbabwe and their leadership.
