Editors, the unsung heroes of the film/tv world...and The Handmaid's Tale's Wendy Hallam-Martin is a great one. Her work on the show earned her an Emmy in 2018 and she's nominated once again in 2019. She talks to us about some of the ways editing shapes what we see on the screen and drops a bunch of fantastic fun facts about some of her favorite scenes from the show. It's great, great stuff! Enjoy.
Music nerds unite! Composer Adam Taylor, the man responsible for composing all that creepy, crawly and....occasionally...uplifting music that you hear on The Handmaid's Tale, joins Mayday for an interview. Learn about how he creates that music for the show, where he came from, what his influences are, and much much more! PLUS we bet you've heard his work in a couple other places and didn't even know it. Listen and enjoy!
Wanna know what we have planned for September and October? Take a listen as we plan for more great Handmaid's Tale content for the fall.
Three time Emmy nominee, and former Handmaid's Tale costume designer Ane Crabtree joins us to answer your questions and talk about all things Handmaid's Tale. Why did she leave the show? Who was the most challenging character to design for ? What inspired the leather muzzles in season 2? Plus we discuss what the future holds for one of the most creative, positive, authentically warm and open people you could ever talk to. Enjoy!
We were so excited to talk to Ane Crabtree again! Here is a small sample of the interview with her answering a listeners question about the impact the Handmaid's Tale costumes had on her and other fans. Enjoy! Full interview up soon!
It's Part 2 of our Wrap up/Ask us anything-ish show!
In this episode we really get to dive deep into the psyche of Sarah. Whether it's black bean brownies, a bag that only she can explain, her love for the Punisher or wishing death upon the Puntams, Sarah straddles her way into your heart. Enjoy!
We're not crying, you're crying! Ok we're all crying, right? A season that had many fans questioning everything about this show, ends with a finale that is a beautiful testament to what can be achieved when women empower other women to get shit done. Meanwhile Fred and Serena remind us that when there's nothing left to eat, the last two rats will feed on each other to survive. What a finish! Let's talk about it!
In which we discuss the Waterford's luxury prison accommodations (wtf!?) and Fred's new gig modeling for "Private Prison's Illustrated", marvel at Serena's general lack of self awareness, applaud Moira as she reminds Serena of exactly who, and what she is regardless of hairstyle and clothing choice, we wonder what exactly Luke's plan was (what's in the binder!?!?), deep dive into June's big decisions, and try and figure where this is all leading. Enjoy!
In which we get to speak to Bruce Miller, showrunner, writer, and producer for The Handmaid's Tale on HULU!
Including one question & answer that will fundamentally change the way you view the show!
Bruce is amazing as always in a an interview that covers a ton of ground, including questions from some of you!
We cover topics ranging from fan reactions to the new season, the whereabouts of Nick, mental health and medicine in Gilead as well as on set, as well as June's Jezebel outfit, who picked THAT song, PLUS we learn once and for all if the Joey Lawrence rabbit hole is real.
Thank you to everyone that submitted questions on social media or through the message app on Anchor!
Hey! Look who checked their notifications! Well you are in for a treat!
Here is a super tiny sneak peak at our interview with Bruce Miller...just for those of you who happened to check for a new episode today.
