[KiniNews] Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s former aide Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak has been cleared of alleged links to the Sabah mining scandal, after investigations revealed that no exploration licence was issued to a company owned by the businessperson.
MACC chief Azam Baki told a press conference today that the investigation papers were submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers, which found that no charges can be brought against any party.
Azam said that a company linked to Farhash had, in March 2023, applied for a mineral exploration licence to Sabah Mineral Management Sdn Bhd (SMM), but had failed to submit the requested documents.
The application was terminated in March this year as a result.
Meanwhile, in a separate story, Azam also said that the forfeiture of RM170 million in cash linked to graft allegations against Ismail Sabri Yaakob does not mean that no charges will be brought against the former premier.
“We forfeited that RM170 million... I did not say there was no need to charge him. I leave that (charging) to the deputy public prosecutor’s decision,” Azam told reporters.

[KiniNews] A Bersatu leader has defended the party’s move to name its president, Muhyiddin Yassin, as its candidate for the 11th prime minister, despite chiding voices of reprimand from fellow Perikatan Nasional partner PAS.
Bersatu information chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz highlighted that since the decision was made on Bersatu’s platform and not PN’s, other parties within the opposition coalition are free to execute similar moves.
He stressed that Bersatu’s decision to unanimously endorse Muhyiddin as a prime minister candidate represents the proposal of party members and must be respected as their right and will.
Meanwhile, PAS leaders have cautioned Bersatu against making hasty decisions without proper consultations among members of the opposition coalition.

[KiniNews] With Bersatu scheduled to have its eighth annual general meeting soon, a poison pen letter has surfaced, targeting its deputy president, Hamzah Zainudin.
According to the letter sighted by Malaysiakini, the author accused Hamzah of planning to oust party president Muhyiddin Yassin, among others.
While saying the party takes the matter seriously, Bersatu information chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz said he personally had not received the letter.
Meanwhile, in a separate story, MCMC has recorded a statement from Perak PAS Youth chief Hafez Sabri over a false and “racially charged” social media post related to an attempted attack on Perak ruler Sultan Nazrin Shah.
The commission affirmed that its probe is linked to the Manjoi assemblyperson’s claim that the woman involved in the incident was Chinese.
“As confirmed by the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director, this is untrue and has the potential to stir racial tension and create negative perceptions among the public,” MCMC said.

[KiniNews] BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has dismissed PAS’ invitation for MIC and MCA to join PN as an attempt to lure BN component parties with vague offers.
The Umno president also described Tuan Ibrahim’s offer as a personal view and not PN’s official stance.
“I know there are efforts by them to entice our BN component partners with offers that do not necessarily promise any beneficial outcome for them,” said the deputy prime minister after attending the Rural and Regional Development Ministry’s monthly assembly in Putrajaya today.
Meanwhile, Perikatan Nasional secretary-general Azmin Ali has described the offer as a “positive development” towards the next 16th general election.
Azmin said PN welcomes any political party or individual who embraces the coalition’s ideals and struggles “to correct the worsening situation in the country.”

Meanwhile, in a separate story, DAP Youth has described the Pontian Municipal Council’s (MPPn) 30-day closure order of a dental clinic that had hung an upside-down flag in Pontian as excessive and disproportionate.

[KiniNews] Lawyers for Liberty co-founder Latheefa Koya has expressed dismay over the Pontian Municipal Council’s move to shutter a private dental clinic for 30 days after it was found flying the Jalur Gemilang upside down.
The former MACC chief commissioner slammed the Johor local authority’s move as “arbitrary and high-handed”, cautioning that this could lead to the public developing negative connotations of the national flag.
“It’s ridiculous to close the premises because of the flag error; the error is unconnected and incommensurate with the closure punishment,” she said.
Meanwhile, in a separate story, Perikatan Nasional’s move to team up with 12 other parties has reignited debate over whether such alliances can deliver meaningful reform, or, in the words of Rafizi Ramli, who drew from experience, end up becoming a “business as usual” government.
The Pandan lawmaker also pointed out that behind their current unity, there is little ideological similarity binding their struggle.

Previously, Rafizi only said the meeting involved a “certain individual”, but he has now revealed further details after attempts were made to link the attack to former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob and former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin, under the claim that he was investigating cases tied to them.
The PKR lawmaker slammed this as a “malicious attempt to divert attention”.

#KiniNews: Rafizi defiant, won't yield to threats; PM orders action against those who incite hatred
[KiniNews] Amid calls for him to take a break, Rafizi Ramli has vowed to press on, declaring that stepping aside would only reward those behind the attack on his 12-year-old son.
“Some have suggested that I take a short break, but life and responsibilities must go on,” the Pandan MP said, while reaffirming his refusal to bow to threats.
“It’s not that I am heartless or putting politics above everything else right now, but the aim of the threats against my family is to make me give up and stay silent. If I stop following my usual routine and duties, then they will have achieved their goal,” he added.
Meanwhile, in a separate story, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim this afternoon instructed law enforcement agencies to take strong action against those who incite hatred in the country.
In his speech at a civil service assembly in Putrajaya, the prime minister cited recent incidents that had been used by certain quarters as agendas to heighten political sentiments by undermining and punishing others without being based on truth and facts.
