PKR didn't learn from Malacca wipeout - Rafizi; Upko cautious over no appeal decision

Apple podcast: https://mk.my/jPylPZC

[KiniNews] Former PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli has slammed the party’s strategy for the upcoming Sabah state election after it revealed several candidates known for their party-hopping antics.

Rafizi reminded PKR how the party sustained a major loss in the 2021 Malacca state election when they fielded a slew of “calon lompat pasang siap” (political frogs).

“The outcome was poor. PKR lost all seats, despite previously recording its biggest victory in its history in Malacca during the 2018 general election," he said.

Meanwhile, in a separate story, Upko president Ewon Benedick said that the AGC’s decision to appeal against one part of the judge’s verdict in the ruling to restore the 40 percent revenue claim for Sabah felt contradictory.

He said the AGC's statement underscored the lack of clarity and commitment he had been questioning from within the government on the issue.

[KiniNews] Wan Saiful Wan Jan has released an audio recording of Bersatu’s disciplinary board proceedings against him, as evidence backing up his claim that the true target was party deputy president Hamzah Zainudin.

#KiniNews: RM1 tril commitments to US not govt funds - Zafrul; PN not jealous, just questioning deal

KiniNews is now also available at:

Spotify: https://mk.my/sH14qeJ

Apple podcast: https://mk.my/jPylPZC

[KiniNews] Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz has dismissed claims that the Malaysia-US trade deal involves Putrajaya spending or compromises national standards, stressing that all related procurements are purely commercial.

Responding to criticisms circulating on social media and among some lawmakers, the international trade and investment minister said many of the allegations stem from “individuals who have not even read the agreement, yet speak as if they were at the negotiating table.”

“First, the RM1 trillion worth of purchases from the US - the list of procurements under this agreement is not something new," he said.

Meanwhile, in a separate story, the opposition sarcastically suggested that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim consider switching careers and become a dancer, as they voiced dissatisfaction over the Malaysia-US reciprocal trade agreement.

Opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin also said that they had merely sought to question the trade agreement in Parliament today and was not criticising or questioning the civil servants involved.

[KiniNews] Dr Mahathir Mohamad sued Anwar Ibrahim because the latter’s allegedly defamatory statements held more weight after he became prime minister compared to when he was the opposition chief, the Shah Alam High Court heard today.

In his RM150 million defamation suit, the 100-year-old former prime minister said Anwar had always claimed the former had amassed personal wealth when in power, even before the latter ascended to premiership.

'When he became the prime minister (and) said the same accusations, it became very effective and this effect, reflecting what Anwar said to me, could be seen on social media, meaning that these accusations against me are stronger now than when he was not the prime minister,' said Mahathir.

Meanwhile, in a separate story, US President Donald Trump said he will soon travel to Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea.

This is the first time Trump has publicly spoken about his plans to visit Malaysia and Japan as well.
