When racial prejudice prevents Michael from getting a position at his chosen hospital, he is forced to look elsewhere, setting him on the path of a major life complication.
Michael takes some advice from Mr. Hart and gets exactly the opportunity he needs to advance his education. He just has to jump through a few bureaucratic hoops first.
During his obstetrical rotation, Michael is surrounded by the outcomes of choices his patients made. When a former love re-appears, he must make a choice as well.
Michael is exhilarated when he is assigned to clerk the patient of a prominent surgeon. His efforts to impress, however, don't quite go according to plan.
