Learnings: zero to one in theory vs in practice. They didn’t know that they wanted to replace US currency when they founded the company. They had several iterations.
Learnings
- They tried another idea for finding roommates before Airbnb
- It took a bit less than a year of raw work before YC
- They weren't fully focused on Airbnb full time. Only in YC did they work from 8-12 daily

- He builds fast because he gets bored easily
- He likes to have fun. Fun is more important than money
- He builds a lot of things
- He didn't really have a grand vision. thefacebook just happened to catch on and he thought it was fun
