The San Francisco Giants continue to play absolutely awful baseball as they were crushed tonight, 8-2, by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Hayden Birdsong surrendered four runs (three earned) before exiting after just four innings of work. Carson Seymour didn't fare any better, as he gave up three home runs in three innings of work. This game was littered with mental mistakes by the San Francisco Giants, and the snowball effect of the losing skid feels like it is building day by day.
The SF Giants picked up Bob Melvin's 2026 option amid severe offensive struggles. Is this a bold move or misguided faith? San Francisco finds itself in a precarious position, eight games out of first place but clinging to wild card hopes.
The San Francisco Giants continued to play uninspiring baseball today with another loss, this time to the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field. Christian Koss appeared to have a solo home run to tie the game in the 8th inning, but fan interference turned the would-be home run into a ground-rule double, and the San Francisco Giants were unable to score in the inning. Logan Webb was excellent today, but yet another one of his great starts was wasted.
The San Francisco Giants are free-falling right now after yet another loss to the Chicago White Sox today, falling 5-2 at Rate Field. Justin Verlander was excellent today and was in line for the win when he turned the game over to the bullpen, but Bob Melvin decided to go with Ryan Walker with multiple runners on base in the 7th inning instead of Randy Rodriguez, who has been the go-to option in those situations all season long. The decision was costly, as the San Francisco Giants trailed 5-2 by the time Ryan Walker was able to get out of the 7th inning. Meanwhile, the San Francisco Giants' offense was horrendous in key situations yet again, going just 2-11 with runners in scoring position.
The SF Giants hit the halfway mark seven games over .500 despite uneven offense. Ben Kaspick breaks down Logan Webb’s dominance, the Rafael Devers trade, and SF's playoff hopes.
The San Francisco Giants' recent struggles have fans on edge. A disappointing homestand, capped by a series sweep by the Miami Marlins, are raising questions about the team's playoff aspirations.
The San Francisco Giants lost to the putrid Miami Marlins today at Oracle Park, capping off a series sweep for the visiting team. The 12 runs the Miami Marlins scored today are a season high for the ballclub, as they went 7-12 with runners in scoring position. Hayden Birdsong gave up seven runs today, a new season-high after he recorded his previous season high in his last outing. The bullpen, which has been the best in baseball through the early part of the season, imploded today and has now given up at least one run in the last six games. The San Francisco Giants hit the road to take on the White Sox next.
The San Francisco Giants lost their second consecutive game to the Miami Marlins tonight at Oracle Park, falling 8-5 in extra innings. With only one out and two runners in scoring position in the bottom of the ninth inning, Patrick Bailey delivered a clutch base hit to score the runner from third, but Matt Williams decided to send Jung Hoo Lee home from second base. This decision proved costly, as Lee was thrown out by 20+ feet at home, and the game went to extra innings, where Camilo Doval surrendered four runs and couldn't finish the 10th inning. Ultimately, the San Francisco Giants wasted yet another dominant outing by Logan Webb as they lose the series to the Miami Marlins.
Rafael Devers' contract is a bargain for the San Francisco Giants—especially compared to Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s 14-year, $500M mega-deal—no matter what anonymous execs say.
Fueled by Rafael Devers’ first San Francisco Giants homer—poetically against his old team—the SF Giants stormed back to take an emotional series win over Boston.
The San Francisco Giants hammered three home runs in their 9-5 victory over the Boston Red Sox, solidifying another series win at Oracle Park. Willy Adames, Casey Schmitt, and Mike Yastrzemski all went deep in today's rubber-match win, and Heliot Ramos pitched in four RBI to the offensive eruption. Casey Schmitt continues to solidify his bid to stay in the starting lineup when Matt Chapman comes back from injury, and a concerning trend for Robbie Ray continues to develop.
The San Francisco Giants got back in the win column today with a 3-2 victory over the Boston Red Sox, thanks in part to Rafael Devers' first home run at Oracle Park. Landen Roupp rolled through six innings of shutout baseball today, and the San Francisco Giants needed it big time with only three fresh bullpen arms. Camilo Doval had a sketchy ninth inning, but pulled it together to secure the save and a San Francisco Giants win.
The San Francisco Giants again failed to come up with hits when it mattered most, falling to the Boston Red Sox 7-5 tonight at Oracle Park. Hitting with runners in scoring position has been a significant struggle for the San Francisco Giants recently, and tonight was no different, as they went just 2-10 in such situations. Meanwhile, Hayden Birdsong had one of his worst outings of the season, forcing the San Francisco Giants to utilize a ton of arms out of the bullpen in the loss.
The SF Giants and Boston Red Sox are the talk of MLB following the stunning Rafael Devers trade. And tonight, the Giants and Red Sox start a series in San Francisco.
The San Francisco Giants entered today having lost four consecutive games, but Logan Webb put a stop to that as he dominated the Cleveland Guardians on the way to a 2-1 win at Oracle Park. Logan Webb spun seven innings of one-run ball and got just enough offense to escape with a win. Wilmer Flores delivered the lone hit with runners in scoring position in the 7th inning as he roped a double down the left field line that scored the San Francisco Giants' only two runs of the game.
The San Francisco Giants entered today looking to help Justin Verlander pick up his first win of the season, but came up short as they fell 4-2 to the Cleveland Guardians. Justin Verlander was somewhat lackluster in his return from the IL, giving up three runs in 4.2 innings tonight at Oracle Park. Meanwhile, the San Francisco Giants' offense continues to disappoint as they were hitless with runners in scoring position. The four game losing skid is tied for the longest stretch of losses this season for the San Francisco Giants.
